Welcome to The Adulting Latina Podcast! Follow the host Anny a 28 year old Latina living in Long Beach,CA. A first generation Latina that is on her own journey of self healing, learning, and creating. MY MISSION/REASON:  My reason why I created this podcast was to find people that can relate to going through the same struggles in the adulting world and having to figure out everything on our own. With not having any guidance in life. We've had to create our own paths in this big world so, I hope you follow along while we figure all this out!  Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theadultinglatina/supportAnny Hernandez Ciencias Sociales

  • The Parentified Daughter: Growing Up Too Fast & Healing as an Adult
    Mar 6 2025

If you grew up feeling more like a second parent than a child, constantly carrying responsibilities that weren’t yours—this episode is for you.

Many of us, especially first-gen Latinas, were raised as parentified daughters, stepping into adult roles at a young age. Whether it was translating for our parents, handling bills, raising younger siblings, or being the family’s emotional support system, we were taught to prioritize others over ourselves. And while that made us strong, independent, and resilient—it also left us with deep emotional wounds, struggles with boundaries, and a constant feeling of responsibility for everyone else’s happiness.

In this episode, I dive deep into:

🔹 What parentification is and how it happens in Latino & immigrant families

🔹 The emotional, mental, and physical toll it takes on us as adults

🔹 Why we struggle with guilt, people-pleasing, and over-functioning in relationships

🔹 How to set boundaries with family (without feeling like a bad daughter)

🔹 Ways to start healing and rediscovering who you are outside of this role

I’m sharing my own experiences and the steps I’m taking to unlearn survival mode, stop overextending myself, and finally focus on my own needs—without guilt. Because you deserve to live for YOU, not just for everyone else.

If this resonates with you, know that you’re not alone. Healing is possible, and it starts with recognizing that you are more than just what you do for others.

  • Immigration & Knowing Your Rights – My Thoughts
    Feb 20 2025

In this episode of The Adulting Latina, I’m sharing my personal thoughts on immigration and why knowing your rights is more important than ever. With so much happening in the U.S., it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but staying informed is key. I go over the basics of what you need to know if you ever face an immigration-related situation—whether it's an ICE stop, a workplace raid, or just knowing what to say (and not say) in certain moments. This is a raw, real conversation about the struggles, fears, and resilience of our community.
