From Costa Rica to Ohio, Dylana’s story is full of love, resilience, and creativity. After meeting her husband at a golf club, she moved to the U.S., learned English by watching the Food Network, and raised her daughters bilingually.

Her journey led her from teaching Zumba to creating one-of-a-kind crochet bags — each named after her daughters and their unique personalities. But it wasn’t always easy. Perfectionism, language barriers, and the challenges of social media made her hesitate at first. With her daughters’ encouragement, Dylana found the confidence to share her work and turn her passion into a business.

Today, you can find her crochet creations at local markets and on Instagram at "Made with Love Crochet" @madewithlovecrochet73. This is more than a story about artful bags — it’s about family, culture, and making it happen.

What does it take to build a long-lasting career in the beauty industry? This week, Megan and Morgan sit down with Kris, a stylist whose journey proves that planning, mentorship, and a love for creativity can go hand-in-hand.

Kris shares her story — from starting out through vocational school to navigating corporate salons, and ultimately finding her home at Studio M. Known for her black-and-white approach to organization (while still tapping into her artistic side), Kris brings a refreshing perspective on how stylists can thrive both behind the chair and in life.

In this episode we talk about:

    • The value of vocational training and why it deserves more respect
    • Lessons from corporate vs. independent salon life
    • How Kris helps run Studio M’s Assistant Program
    • Building client connections that last
    • Why things like 401(k)s, insurance, and retirement planning matter for stylists
    • Balancing structure with creativity to make people feel their most beautiful

This conversation is proof that you don’t have to choose between being a planner and being an artist — in fact, that balance might be the key to real salon success.

This week’s episode is a little bit of everything, including drama, because honestly, that’s what life feels like sometimes.

The conversation winds through small-town community pride, Friday night football culture, cheer competitions, and even a few doses of mom drama. Toward the end, Megan opens up again about grief and introduces the idea of an Elephant in the Room series to give space for cathartic storytelling.

This is different. It’s raw, real, and deeply personal.

In this special episode of Studio Make It Happen, Megan opens up about the “elephant in the room” she’s carried over the last year and a half — a season of betrayal, terrible loss, and grief that’s tested her spirit again and again.

But here’s what she’s learned: if you don’t give yourself time to grieve, you risk falling into depression — even if it looks “high-functioning” from the outside. Healing isn’t linear, and it isn’t easy.

💬 In this episode, Megan shares:

Her story of loss and resilience

The support system she’s built at Studio M and at home

Why it’s okay to grieve in your own way

A reminder: don’t get stuck in the pain — you are not alone

On the anniversary of her sister-in-law’s passing, Megan reflects on the special bond they shared and encourages anyone listening to face their own “elephant.” Because even in grief, you can still make it happen.
