  • Episode 3: Getting to Know Baruch Spinoza
    Mar 22 2021

One of my first "aha" moments with spiritual awakening was discovering the 17th-century philosopher Baruch Spinoza. You can listen to the audio recordings that really resonated with me on audible.com: "Baruch Spinoza: The Giants of Philosophy" written by Thomas Cook and narrated by Charlton Heston, and "New Jerusalem: The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656" an L.A. Theatre Works production written by David Ives and performed by Ed Asner and others.

You can find an examination of Spinoza's life and writings here: Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/spinoza/#Biog)

And you can find a short biography of Spinoza here: Great Thinkers—Baruch Spinoza (https://thegreatthinkers.org/spinoza/biography/)

  • Episode 6: My takeaways from "God is Nothingness" by Andre Halaw
    May 3 2021

Andre Halaw has a wonderful way of wording things, and he explains the concept of Nothingness in a beautiful way that reinforces the ideas from the resources we've explored in previous episodes. This book takes us step by step through the process of revealing our true natures, and is a great lead-in to the next podcast in which I'll discuss the concept of Neti-Neti meditation using another book by Halaw as a reference.

You can find the audio and full transcript of this episode on my website at SpiritualBNR.org/blog/making-sense-of-nothingness.
