Who Are You Performing For, Anyway?

Some exhaustion isn’t about doing too much.
It’s about being someone for everyone else for too long.

In this week’s sermon, we explore the quiet truth many of us were never given language for:

Performance is what we learn when presence was never enough.

Through cultural stories, lived experience, scripture, and deep nervous-system wisdom, this message gently dismantles the lie that rest must be earned and love must be proven.

    This sermon is for:

    • the strong one

    • the capable one

    • the emotionally regulated one

    • the one who learned early how to disappear to belong

If you’ve ever confused usefulness with worth, exhaustion with devotion, or survival with faith—this space is for you.

    No fixing.
    No performing.
Just a room with the lights low, chairs pulled up, and permission to sit down.

You don’t need to be impressive here.
You don’t need to be healed here.
You only need to be present.

    🎧 Listen slowly.
    🕯️ Breathe deeply.
    🏠 Come home to yourself.

Do Not Make Sacred Decisions From Winter
    A QFFC Sermon

There are decisions that shape a life—
and there are seasons that distort the way we see.

In this sermon, we begin by tending to the body that has been asked to choose: breathing, grounding, and letting the nervous system settle before we reach for clarity. Because there is a difference between a decision made from wisdom… and a decision made from winter.

Winter decisions aren’t immoral. They aren’t “wrong.” They’re simply made with fewer internal resources—less rest, less capacity, less spaciousness. In winter, the body isn’t asking, “What is the wisest choice?” It’s asking, “How do I survive this?”

With anchors from The Martian (“work the problem”), Hamilton (“Wait For It”), and Game of Thrones (“Winter is Coming”), along with wisdom from Rumi, Kierkegaard, and Marcus Aurelius, we explore how urgency can become information—not authority—and why rest isn’t indulgence… it’s clarity’s doorway.

If you’ve been pressured to “just decide” while exhausted, grieving, afraid, or running on fumes—this sermon is for you.

    You are not behind.
    You are not failing.
    You are here.
And that is enough to begin.

Soul Belongings: The Oasis of QFFC — A Sermoncast of Compassion, Consciousness, Joy & Sacred Fire

Episode Title: Soul Dogs & Sacred Companions
    A QFFC Sermon

Some of the deepest healing we will ever know
does not come from words, insight, or effort.

    It comes from presence.

In this sermon, we widen the circle of who counts to include the sacred companions who loved us before we were healed, productive, articulate, or strong.

    The ones who stayed.
    Who matched our pace.
    Who guarded without being asked.
    Who loved without conditions.

Through stories like Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows, Marley & Me, and The Incredible Journey, alongside reflections from Gilda Radner, Dean Koontz, and Doris Day, we explore what animals teach us about worth, belonging, and nervous-system safety.

This is a sermon for those who are grieving quietly.
For bodies that are aging, injured, or slowing down.
For identities shaken when the doing stops.

Soul Dogs remind us of a truth many of us were taught to forget:
Worth does not disappear when usefulness ends.
Love does not leave when performance stops.
    Being alive is already enough.

If you have ever loved an animal— or been loved by one— this space will feel familiar.

    You are home here.
