Do Not Make Sacred Decisions From Winter
A QFFC Sermon
There are decisions that shape a life—
and there are seasons that distort the way we see.
In this sermon, we begin by tending to the body that has been asked to choose: breathing, grounding, and letting the nervous system settle before we reach for clarity. Because there is a difference between a decision made from wisdom… and a decision made from winter.
Winter decisions aren’t immoral. They aren’t “wrong.” They’re simply made with fewer internal resources—less rest, less capacity, less spaciousness. In winter, the body isn’t asking, “What is the wisest choice?” It’s asking, “How do I survive this?”
With anchors from The Martian (“work the problem”), Hamilton (“Wait For It”), and Game of Thrones (“Winter is Coming”), along with wisdom from Rumi, Kierkegaard, and Marcus Aurelius, we explore how urgency can become information—not authority—and why rest isn’t indulgence… it’s clarity’s doorway.
If you’ve been pressured to “just decide” while exhausted, grieving, afraid, or running on fumes—this sermon is for you.
You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You are here.
And that is enough to begin.
