Across more than four decades as a journalist and television presenter, Lisa Wilkinson has told plenty of compelling stories. But in the past five years, she has spent more time making headlines than reading them.

Now, Lisa sits down for her first interview in more than four years to unpack the personal toll of the legal battles that have consumed her life since June 2022, and discuss the unlikely project she threw herself into during that tumultuous time: a new book she has written about a woman named Evelyn Marsden, the only Australian-born survivor of the Titanic disaster.

In this episode of the Stellar podcast, Lisa opens up about how digging into Evelyn’s life story helped her put the adversities she was facing into perspective. When a 16-year-old Jessica Mauboy stood on a makeshift stage in the middle of the desert for her Australian Idol audition, she was just a shy kid from Darwin with a massive voice. Within a few years, she was catapulted from the Top End to the top of the charts.

Earlier this year, Jessica returned to the Australian Idol stage – this time as a mentor, stepping in to fill Kyle Sandilands’ empty chair. But she hasn't forgotten the hurdles she faced or the comments about her body, which she now sees through an entirely different lens.
