  • Overcoming Childhood Trauma with Kevin Donaldson (Bonus Episode 20)
    Apr 2 2025

Society expects them to be strong, stoic, and unshakable. But what happens when the weight of trauma becomes unbearable?

What happens when the very qualities that make them resilient also become the barriers that keep them from healing?

In this unfiltered conversation, retired police officer Kevin Donaldson sheds light on the silent struggles of men, ranging from masculinity and emotional suppression to toxic family dynamics, the importance of breaking generational cycles of pain, and more.

    🍃 Childhood trauma

    🍃 Overcoming C-PTSD

    🍃 OCD coping strategies

🍃 Dealing with toxic family members in social media

🍃 Parenting to protect our children from the generational trauma we endured

    🍃Committing to a resilient mindset

🍃 Using stories of struggle to help others

Surviving post-traumatic stress and multiple suicide attempts, Kevin P. Donaldson found resiliency in the embrace of his trauma. Retiring from the police department in New Jersey in 2014 after being involved in a shooting during a domestic incident, Kevin struggled to find peace inside his own chaotic mind dealing with feelings that were foreign and new while fighting through the difficulties that life threw his way.

Kevin now Chronicles his struggles by speaking out and destigmatizing mental health to find resiliency in facing suffering head-on by showing that there is a way to find your smile once again. Find Kevin's work and dedication to face the truth as the host of The Suffering Podcast. His work now includes his dedication to repaying the assistance that was given during his most trying of times as the co-founder and President of the Non-Profit organization The Suffering Podcast's Dented Development Project which helps repair dents caused by Suffering in those who have overcome adversity. In 2022, Kevin was honored by being named to Who's Who in America.

In 2022, Kevin was a guest on Soft White Underbelly detailing his story which led to being one of the creator Mark Laita's favorite interviews on his channel as mentioned on "The Joe Rogan Experience".

Kevin writes for a variety of periodicals and has been a former Executive Contributor for Rich Man Magazine, Rich Woman Magazine, and Sovereign Global Magazine highlighting stories on a variety of topics and individual.

In 2024, Kevin is co-authored the groundbreaking book Man You Are Crazy, a book with Detective Chris Anderson chronicling his journey into and out of the darkness exploring Mental Health in the Police world.

I wanted more

I wanted more. I wished there was more. I finished it in one day cleaning house. It was exactly what I needed. I wish there was a lot more like it. Just makes me feel not so alone in my experience AND reminds me I am not crazy or wrong.
