  • Ep 4 | Ask Better Questions
    Apr 19 2025

In this episode of Shen & Shenanigans, we’re diving into a conversation we’ve been having behind the scenes for years: how do we communicate the depth of what we do—without falling into the trap of overused buzzwords? From “holistic” to “root cause,” we unpack the language that’s become commonplace in healthcare marketing and why we often avoid it in our own practice. This isn’t about policing terminology—it’s about encouraging both patients and providers to think more critically about what those words mean, and how they shape expectations, relationships, and care.We also explore:-- What it really means to take a holistic approach-- The importance of individualized care in a system built for one-size-fits-all-- Why asking better questions—on both sides of the treatment table—mattersWhether you’re a fellow practitioner navigating your own language choices, or someone seeking care and wanting to feel more confident in building your team—this one’s for you.→ Questions or thoughts? Drop them in the comments—we’re always up for a deeper conversation.

  • Ep. 2 | Here We Go | Part 2
    Mar 23 2025

Ready for Part 2!? In this video, we’re opening up about the heart and soul behind what we do. For over a decade, our journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to serving veterans, supporting mental health, and helping people find relief in ways that feel meaningful and lasting. For us, it all started with family—Dr. James's dad and Dr. Devynne's grandpa -- a 100% disabled veteran, navigate his own healing journey. Seeing the impact of acupuncture firsthand, both for him and in our early training at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture, planted the seeds for the free monthly clinics we’ve run since 2014. These clinics have become more than just a space for pain relief—they’re a place where people can process life, find peace, and rediscover joy, no matter where they’re starting from. You’ll also hear about how this work shaped our own paths, leading us to lean into those “what if” moments that changed everything. Our goal has always been simple: to meet people where they are, to never force healing, and to create a space where feeling better—physically, emotionally, and mentally—feels possible. If this resonates with you, or if you’re curious about the deeper impact of acupuncture, we’d love for you to join us in this conversation.💬 Let us know your thoughts in the comments, and don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more stories about healing, growth, and connection.

We're excited to share the very first recording of Jing Shen Conversations with you. This project has been years in the making, and we’re thrilled to finally hit "record" on the long discussions we’ve been having about acupuncture, Chinese medicine, life, and everything in between.

    👩‍⚕️ Who We Are:

Dr. James Berry and Dr. Devynne Berry—a father-daughter team of Doctors of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine—have been practicing together for over a decade. Over the years, we've joked about how we should capture some of our deep, insightful, and often funny conversations. Well, here we are!

    📚 What to Expect:

This is just the beginning of a fun and evolving journey. For now, we’re keeping things casual—turning on the mic and letting the conversations flow. As we build consistency, we plan to share:

    - Clips and highlights from our discussions

    - Insights into acupuncture and Chinese medicine

    - Reflections on life, health, and more

We’ll also create more focused content on specific topics down the road, so stay tuned!

This video is a brief clip (well, a 20-minute clip!) from a much longer conversation. The full discussion will be released soon, likely in two or three parts.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. It’s a ride we’re excited to share with you!
