• Ep 300: Three hundred episodes! What got me through the hardest year of my life
    Apr 29 2025

If you're a highly sensitive person going through a hard time, this might be the episode for you.

Welcome to episode 300 of SelfKind - a podcast for Highly Sensitive People who are navigating what it means to be sensitive in a world that doesn't always feel like it's made for them.

In this milestone 300th episode, I'm reflecting on the past year, which has been the hardest of my life. There is one thing in particular that's helped me keep my head above water as a Highly Sensitive Person and that's what I'm going to share with you. It's a foundational tool every HSP needs to know.

What is that one thing? Self-compassion.
Why do we need it? Because being human means to go through challenges. And sometimes those challenges can feel like they come thick and fast from the shadows. Being on your own side through those challenges is life-changing.

In this episode you'll hear why self-compassion and being on your own side is so important as a highly sensitive person and I also share with you a practical strategy for bringing more of this tool into your own life.

  • Ep 299: The world can feel like a threatening place for highly sensitive people. Here’s what you can do about it.
    Apr 18 2025

You're a highly sensitive person and you know that self care is something you *should* be doing more of. But it just takes so much time, money and energy, right?

Maybe ... or maybe a new perspective is needed.

What if self-caring could be a way of *being* in the world, not just something that you do when you have all the time and resources? The perspective shift I'm offering in this episode of SelfKind might help you to do exactly that.

In this episode of the podcast, SelfKind, you will hear:
    - What perceived safety has to do with self-care
    - The ways you can feel safer in your highly sensitive body
    - A simple exercise you can explore to immediately improve your self-care (without a single dollar spent!)
    - Why the way you talk to and about yourself is so vitally important.

  • Ep 298: Is it okay to avoid things and places as a Highly Sensitive Person?
    Apr 7 2025

It's just easier to avoid overwhelming and overstimulating places, spaces, things and people as a Highly Sensitive Person, isn't it?! Well ... sometimes but not always. Like everything, the honest answer is 'it depends'.

If you are a Highly Sensitive Person then it's likely you know the feeling of wanting to avoid the things that are dysregulating. Whether it's a social situation, a high pressured environment, public speaking or something else, you might be familiar with the urge to avoid. Sometimes that is the kindest, most supportive answer. And sometimes? Sometimes we WANT to be in those overstimulating places - we just don't want to be overstimulated!

Join me, Erica Webb, for this episode of the podcast, SelfKind, where I'm sharing some questions you can ask yourself to figure out: avoid or not?

  • Ep 297: Knowing versus doing: why highly sensitive people sometimes think about but don’t ‘do’ self-care
    Mar 31 2025

Chances are, you're not short of knowledge as a Highly Sensitive Person. You know all about some of the things that could support you to feel better. But sometimes? It's easier to think about them than it is to *do* them!

As a Highly Sensitive Person, this makes a lot of sense. Depth of processing is your jam. But when thinking becomes a proxy for doing, you risk missing out on the full benefits of your self-care practices.

Join me, Erica Webb, for this episode of SelfKind - a Podcast for Highly Sensitive People. In this episode I'm talking about the challenges faced by highly sensitive people in transitioning from knowledge to action, particularly in the realm of self-care.

    You'll hear:
    - some of the emotional and cognitive barriers that might prevent you from implementing self-care practices
    - why cognitive knowing is not enough and how somatic, felt experiences can make all the difference
    - practical strategies for translating knowledge into action.'

  • Ep 296: Discovering you’re a Highly Sensitive Person & self-care in motherhood with doula Georgie Druckmann
    Mar 25 2025

It wasn't so long ago that Georgie learned there was a name for the way she felt ... being a Highly Sensitive Person.

Maybe you've been there too? Discovering, for the first time, that there are words and experiences that are shared by others who also have this trait. That you're not actually 'too much' or 'too sensitive', but that you are a part of that minority percentage of the population who are more sensitive.

Georgie found that discovery to be pivotal. And one of the biggest shifts ? An enhanced capacity to meet herself with compassion.

Join me, Erica Webb, host of SelfKind, as I chat with Georgie Druckmann - doula, mother and highly sensitive person - about the impact of putting words to her high sensitivity and what we can all learn through her work as a post-partum doula.

We talk about compassion, the importance of community care, and how, as Highly Sensitive People, we can navigate asking for and receiving support.

    About Georgie Druckmann:
Georgia is a mum and postpartum (and previous) birth doula, living in Naarm/Melbourne. With her relatively recent discovery of being a HSP, many pieces of how she moves and feels in the world now make so much more sense and she can see how being HSP has made things harder at times but has also been her super power in how she nurtures others through being a doula, mother, partner and friend.

  • Ep 295: Why am I so tired? Is that a Highly Sensitive Person thing?
    Mar 18 2025

If I had to describe being a Highly Sensitive Person in just one word, I might use the word 'exhausting'. Honestly, it can be tiring being a highly sensitive person, but it's not all doom and gloom.

I'm a big believer that when we understand and respect our sensitivity, we open the door to being able to navigate the tricky bits of being HSP more easily.

In this episode (# 295) the podcast, SelfKind, join me, Erica Webb - registered counsellor, somatic exercise coach, yoga teacher and highly sensitive person - as I talk about 5 of the reasons you're so tired as an HSP (and what you can do about it).

  • Ep 294: Why are my shoulders tight all the time? Navigating chronic tension as a Highly Sensitive Person
    Mar 12 2025

How are your shoulders? Jaw? Tight and tense? Your fellow Highly Sensitive People understand! But why does this happen and what can we do about it?

In this episode (# 294) the podcast, SelfKind, join me, Erica Webb - registered counsellor, somatic exercise coach, yoga teacher and highly sensitive person - as I talk about why so many of us highly sensitive types navigate persistent tension, aches and pains AND some simple strategies that can help.

If you're a highly sensitive person and you deal with persistent or chronic tension, this episode is for you. You will hear:
    - why persistent tension can show up for highly sensitive people
    - a reframe to help you see that, even though it's uncomfortable and you might want to change it, that tension is NOT your body failing or letting you down
    - the role of mindful movement in helping to navigate persistent tension.

Take what feels supportive, leave what doesn't, and see how mindful movement could make a big difference to how you feel.

  • Ep 293: The #1 mistake you’re making in trying to fix your sensitivity
    Mar 4 2025

Highly sensitive in a world that often feels too bright, too loud, too emotional ... too much? If so, don't make this mistake ... the mistake of thinking you're the problem.

Your sensitivity? It doesn't need to be fixed.
So what might it need instead?

In this episode of the podcast, SelfKind, join me, Erica Webb - registered counsellor, somatic exercise coach, yoga teacher and highly sensitive person - as I talk about the mistake of assuming your sensitivity is a flaw.

I'm sharing three questions with you in this episode, which will hopefully spark some ideas around supporting and nurturing your sensitivity rather than shaming and blaming it.

Here are those questions: grab a notebook and see what comes out of them!
    1. How would my sensitivity like to be loved?
    2. If I was going to offer my sensitivity its perfect day, what would that be? What would I do (or not do)?
    3. If I want my sensitivity to know that it’s not bad or in need of fixing, what would I tell it? What would I have it believe?

Take what feels supportive, leave what doesn't, and see how you include more of that (i.e. the answers to those questions) into your everyday life.
