Tonight we return to Japan for the first time in a while with The Story of Ito Norisuke, as told by Lafcadio Hearn. This story comes from Hearn’s collection The Romance of the Milky Way and Other Stories, first published in 1905.

This is one of those highly atmospheric stories; even as events get stranger and stranger, the mood gets more and more calm and dreamlike, with peaceful acknowledgment of the darkness and mystery.
