At the start of any big project, you kind of need the whole team together, but thanks to some classic Indian visa chaos, our plans went sideways fast. In this episode, we sit down with Alex to hear how he managed to lose his passport, miss two flights, and almost blag his way into India anyway.

Hi, I’m Hannah, accidental runner, sustainability advocate and founder of the Better Business Network.

Project Salt Run is a world-first endurance expedition. I'm running 4,200 km across India, following the forgotten Inland Customs Line (also known as the Great Hedge of India) to raise £1 million for environmental action through 1% for the Planet, Frank Water, ClientEarth, and Big Change.

Starting on 26th October 2025, I’ve been running one marathon every day for 100 days, crossing deserts, jungles, and cities from the Pakistan border all the way to Kolkata, shining a light on how business and people can be a force for good.

This isn’t just a run. It’s a story about legacy, climate action, and courage and how small groups of people can create big change.

Hannah is runnning 100 marathons in 100 days, covering 4,200 km, to raise £1,000,000 for 1% for the Planet on Givestar. This journey is a powerful testament to the potential within all of us to make a real difference.

In the face of unprecedented environmental challenges, Project Salt Run aims to inspire action through an extraordinary journey of transformation. Hannah Cox, a sustainability advocate with Indian heritage and a first-time runner, is undertaking a life-changing challenge across India, following the historic Inland Customs Line.

This colonial-era boundary enforced a devastating salt tax, causing immense suffering and millions of deaths, but has been largely forgotten from history.
By retracing this route, Hannah seeks to honour its legacy and transform its meaning, inviting others to discover their own version of extraordinary. This journey is not about guarantees of success, Hannah faces the real possibility of failure, but it’s a powerful reminder that taking bold steps, even in uncertainty, can inspire meaningful change.

  • 2 Weeks to Go: Nature Gets a Vote with Graham Hansen
    Oct 9 2025

    Send us a text

Hannah’s stepping back from day-to-day at the Better Business Network as we gear up for 100 marathons across India, so we grabbed her colleague and “Nature on the Board” director Graham Hansen to explain how BBN gives nature a real seat at the table. We talk through where the idea came from, how it works legally and culturally, balancing people profit and planet, and why “progress not perfect” beats greenwashing or green-hushing every time. We also hit what this means for Project Salt Run and how anyone can bring nature into daily life with simple habits.

We’re currently raising money to make this expedition possible. EVERY Pound raised on Crowdfunder gets us closer to being able to reach India.
