  • Is Your Business Joyful? with M. Shannon Hernandez
    Apr 16 2026

“If it ain't joyful, I ain't doing that shit.”

    –M. Shannon Hernandez

I’m talking to M. Shannon Hernandez, author of Practical Joy: Simple Tools to Cultivate More Joy Every Day and founder of Joyful Business Revolution. She opens with her mantra: If it ain’t joyful, I ain’t doing that shit,” and we dive in from there.

Shannon explains the difference between joy and happiness this way: Joy is an inside job, while happiness comes from things on the outside. Joy is living in alignment with our core values. And you can plan for joy.

Shannon shows us how to weave joy into our marketing — and the shift that happens when you stop thinking about marketing and start thinking about messaging.

    We talk about:

    • Planning your day based around your 3-4 top values and how your future self drives joy
    • Cultivating joy every day, no matter what’s going on — with examples — and working through the non-joyful parts to get to joy
    • The difference between marketing and messaging, and bringing joy to the messaging of your business
    • Finding your messaging pillars
    • Why making time to connect with people is essential
    • Using AI — how to show up as you, how to use AI to streamline not make things busier

    DOABLE CHANGES

At the end of every episode, we share three doable changes, so you can take what you've heard and put it into action. Change comes from action.

Doable changes are things that you can add into your life, one at a time to make micro shifts and really create a ripple effect that will create a big change over time. Choose one that really piques your interest and roll with it.

Here are three Doable Changes from this conversation:

    • PLAN FROM YOUR VALUES. Identify your top 3–4 values. Each morning for a week, identify what you will do each day to live each value. Notice how it changes the way you approach your day. What things easily fit in? What things feel challenging? What things fit if you shift the way you think?
    • IDENTIFY YOUR MESSAGING PILLARS. What are the three things you talk about in your messaging? Start by looking at what you are already talking about. Think about what your future self wants to be doing — what are three things important to that work? What things already bring joy or spark real connection with people? Work with these pillars or anchors to streamline your messaging on your website, in emails, in podcasts or blogs, in talks and workshops.
    • REACH OUT TO OTHERS. Connecting with others is essential to your business success. Do it as a joyful thing. Do it as a real human looking to connect with someone else. If you are bringing networking energy or a checklist of numbers energy to it, try leading with a different gesture, with connection, with real curiosity or interest.

  • Making Time for Your Vision
    Apr 9 2026

Why does follow-through sometimes feel impossible—even when you know what you want?

In this episode, I’m diving into one of the most overlooked (and powerful) parts of the FLOW planning process: vision. This step is something you can access in minutes, even seconds, to help you move forward when you feel stuck.

If you’ve been feeling frozen, overwhelmed, or like you “just can’t move,” this isn’t about discipline or doing more. It’s about reconnecting to where you’re going, and letting that pull you forward. This is the role of vision.

In this episode, I walk you through:

    • The 5-step FLOW planning method (and where vision fits in)
    • How to use vision at different scales—from 3 years to the next 90 minutes
    • Simple ways to practice vision so it becomes natural (not another to-do)
    • How to shift from past-based thinking to future-based action

You’ll leave with a practical way to reconnect to your vision, so you can take your next step with more clarity, ease, and momentum.

Because you already know what you want. Sometimes you just need to remember.

  • Astrology is a Productivity Tool with Danielle Hendrickson
    Apr 2 2026
“That's why the natal chart is so cool and human design and gene keys are these beautiful tools that give us permission to be ourselves.” –Danielle HendricksonI’m a Gemini. For a long time, that’s all I knew about astrology. But it fascinated me. Turns out, all I knew was my Sun sigh, and I’m really interested in Moons, because the moon maps to the feminine cycle.I’m excited to share this conversation with Venusian astrologer Danielle Hendrickson, who writes the Astrology Report for Pause magazine every month.I asked Danielle for Astrology 101, and she used this analogy. You’re in a car, and you are the driver. The car is being fueled by your sun. Your sun is the gas in the tank, and it’s making you move towards your ascending sign, which is who you are here to become. To find out who else is in the car, and why they matter, take a listen. We talk about:The shift in our creative center when we reach menopauseVenus returns happening every eight years and how you can see your feminine rising over timeUnderstanding your signs to understand your path and be more yourselfHow your relationship with the moon may change in perimenopause, menopause, and beyondMapping the moon, your cycle, and your Venus weekThe 19-month Venus cycleABOUT DANIELLE Danielle Hendrickson is a women’s spiritual guide, Venusian astrologer and priestess devoted to helping women remember and embody their Sacred Feminine blueprint. The way we take care of ourselves is making the steps doable and focusing on one thing at a time. We take time to integrate the change and then move on to the next one. Pick a Doable Change that resonates with you the most to start from. Here are three Doable changes that we chose from this conversation. FIND YOUR MOON. You probably know your Sun sign — that’s the horoscope you usually look up. What about your moon? Use an online moon sign calculator to find your moon and learn more about it.MAP THE MOON CYCLE. Use our moon tracker, the moon board Danielle mentioned, or any other way to track where the moon is in its cycle, where you are in yours (if you are cycling) and what you notice about yourself in different parts of the cycle.GET A BASIC CHART. I highly recommend you get a reading from a real astrologer, especially if you are interested in the sacred feminine. If you’re ready, your doable change is to book an appointment. Not ready, try asking AI about your chart to get a starting point. What resonates?

  • Staying Consistent to Grow Your Network with Nina Froriep
    Mar 19 2026

“Make sure that you're not just posting and running away.”

    –Nina Froriep

How do we start to use LinkedIn in a really smart way? I’ll admit I have mixed feelings, but I’m trying to embrace it. There’s no one better to help do that than Nina Froriep, a content + engagement strategist and a LinkedIn personal brand builder.

My first aha from Nina — LinkedIn likes and rewards consistency and engagement. It’s not enough to just put stuff out there. You really want to engage with people who comment on your posts and go like or comment on others. You want to keep the conversation going.

You need to be there. You need a professional presence that tells who you are and what you do. Nina and I dig into how much and how to make the most of that time.

    We talk about:

    1. Engagement can go along way even without posting (and why you should still post)
    2. What the algorithm rewards now
    3. How often to post and how to get more engagement
    4. Creating an editorial calendar to balance thought leadership and events
    5. Easy ways to add content that engages
    6. Reusing what you have

    ABOUT NINA

Nina is a LinkedIn™ featured LinkedIn Brand Builder and a Content and Engagement Strategist for Creators, Coaches + Consultants.

She works with service-based entrepreneurs and visual artists to create strategies and digital content so they can grow their companies organically and elevate the conversations they're having in their areas of expertise.

Nina is a “recovering” film producer and documentary filmmaker. She’s seen it all, from the early days on independent features to big national TVcommercials, corporate mega-shows, and Emmy award-winning documentaries, including one she produced and directed called Abraham's Children.

Nina is a visual artist, and loves spending time outdoors, especially in her native Switzerland, with her owner Tigger, an 11-pound Dachshund mix who has her well trained.

    DOABLE CHANGES

At the end of every episode, we share three doable changes, so you can take what you've heard and put it into action. Action is where change happens.

Even though we want big change, it’s really little things done over and over that make the difference. So pick a doable thing. Put it in your calendar. Weave it through your days for a week and then move on to the next one. It will have a snowball effect.

Here are three Doable Changes from this conversation:

    1. BE CONSISTENT. Pick two days a week to post and do it every week. Put it in your calendar. Block off the time to write it. Get it out there.
    2. ENGAGE. Keep the conversation going. Go comment (18 words or more!) on posts by people you know. Respond to comments on your posts. Respond to another commenter. Build real engagement. Struggle to post consistently? Show up and engage consistently first.
    3. ASK A QUESTION. Ask smart questions. Ask people which of three covers they like and why. You can use a question as a post or at the end of a post. You can reply to a comment with a question. Give people something to respond to.

Action is where change happens. But here's the thing: when we have a goal, a wish, a desire bubbling up in us, it can feel really huge. Sometimes we stop ourselves in our tracks based on how huge our desire feels. Change needs action, but it doesn't need huge action. When we focus on the next step, the next Doable Change that we can integrate into our lives, we don’t get stuck and we create momentum. Choose one Doable Change that resonates with you today and really play with it. Fit it into your life, your days, make it work for you — then move on to your next Doable Change. Here are Three Doable Changes from this conversation: CHOOSE SELF-CARE. Self-care and compassion make such a difference, but sometimes we back off from them because we don’t want to disappoint others. Think about the last time somebody modeled self-care and how you reacted. Try an act of self-care yourself.WHO ARE YOU NOW? Where are you getting stuck in old stories? Who are you now? I was once really dogmatic about food. It served me well at the time, but now, not so much. Are the decisions you would have made a decade ago that feel different now? Slow down and look at the boundaries and decisions in your life now. Are you working from an old story?CHECK OUT SKINNY60. I’ve done this program several times and I keep learning more and adjusting to my now body. Take a few minutes to explore this program to see if it might help you reclaim your health and navigate this stage of life in your body (which, of course affects everything else).

  • Concentrating During Chaos
    Feb 26 2026

Concentrating during chaos can feel impossible — especially when life is unpredictable, confusing, and messy (hello, snowstorms… and everything else happening in the world). In this episode, I’m sharing a simple metaphor I couldn’t stop thinking about: the trees outside my window.

It really struck me that nature isn’t fighting chaotic weather — it’s prepared for it.

We’ll talk about why your brain interprets chaos as a threat (and why your nervous system will always prioritize survival over productivity), how decision fatigue and fragmented attention make it harder to focus, and what to do instead.

Using a tree framework — roots, trunk, branches, and seasons — you’ll explore how to get more rooted in what doesn’t change, simplify what you’re trying to do right now, stay committed without rigidity, and let this season be the season it is.

If you’ve been overwhelmed, second-guessing everything, researching instead of choosing, or feeling like everything needs a reevaluation… this one is for you.

  • Why I’m Choosing “Boring” This Year
    Feb 17 2026

“Boring isn’t about making life smaller — it’s about finally doing what I said I wanted to do.” —Mia

My highly passionate, creative, maybe ADHD, manifesting generator — or simply feeling scattered — sisters, I hope you find one piece in here that helps you.

I’ve chosen “boring” as my word of the year.

The need for boring energy has shown up through the health challenges of the past two years — a diagnosis that led to brain surgery, a series of illnesses, and recently falling and breaking my arm and sacrum.

And surprisingly, saying boring has helped me finally follow through — actually doing the things I know will create the life and goals I want.

As I lean into this word, I’m learning a lot. Here are some of the biggest lessons so far:

    1. Avoid Shiny Objects

Have you ever gone to post something on social media and resurfaced 90 minutes later unsure what happened — and the post isn’t even a thought anymore?

    Me. All the time.

But I’m changing that. Boring means going in with intention, doing the thing I came to do, and leaving before the distractions take over.

    2. Notice the Negative Behaviors That Pretend to Help

I’m really good at rushing and multitasking — but I miss things, slip and fall, and lose focus.

Sometimes what feels connecting or exciting is actually avoidance. Watching a show can feel cozy, but sometimes it replaces harder conversations or needed rest.

Choosing boring brings me back to what I actually said I wanted.

    3. Follow My Own Needs (Not Outside Expectations)

If you feel like you have to post constantly or send daily emails because “that’s how business works,” you might be following someone else’s priorities.

Same with life. Sending kids to school sick because they’re supposed to go? That’s another outside rule that I choose to break. Working sick. I go inward before I decide what I’m going to do.

Boring asks: what rhythm actually works for me?

    Choose alignment over expectation.

    4. Do One Thing Really Well

As a highly creative, multi-passionate person, this is hard — and it comes up constantly in coaching.

But constraints are powerful. When you focus on one thing at a time and do it well, it’s deeply satisfying — and often moves you forward faster.

    5. Simplify to Reduce Decision Fatigue

When you simplify your calendar and choose to do less, you remove constant decision-making.

And when decisions decrease, energy increases — especially for the uncomfortable but meaningful work.

    6. Simplicity Is Hard — But Transformational

We resist simplifying, even when we know it helps.

But slowing down, simplifying, and focusing allow us to actually move forward instead of spinning in possibility.

You might notice overlap in these lessons — and that’s the point.

    Simplify.

    Slow down.

    Focus.

Do the things that really matter.

How could that serve you this year?

    7. What’s Your Word?

And if boring is not what you are here to play with. What are the big lessons you need to learn from your word of the year?

    DOABLE CHANGES

If any of this resonated, here are three ways to experiment with your own version of “boring” this week:

    SIMPLIFY YOUR CALENDAR

What’s one thing you could remove next week? Where are the bottlenecks or overwhelm points? What could you decide in advance?

    PICK ONE THING

Instead of trying seven or eight things — even if you’re great at multitasking — what happens if you choose ONE and do it really well?

    DOES THIS SERVE ME?

Pause and ask: does this actually support what I want? Does watching a show create connection — or avoid conversation? Are you staying up past bedtime to do it? What might you be saying no to without realizing it?
