Don't Get Brain Matter On Your Phone Screen

Why you ask? Because it's gross and difficult to get off. So, yeah, it's best to avoid that if at all possible.

And that's a slice of the craziness in this episode, an episode loaded with chuckles, one liners, quips, and a modern explanation of how you were born, along with some more somber offerings in yet another Potpourri edition (#10!).

Yes, it's late. Yes, it's irresponsible of me. But it's here and you damn well better enjoy it.

  • Victim of Circumstance
    Jan 19 2026

Victim of circumstance, but darn good circumstance. I'm late with this episode publication, but under the circumstance of my disposable time being consumed with marketing my first novel and some other responsibilities. I'm excited to share in this episode the first chapter of my book that I have prepped for the audiobook version of it.

    Here's the skinny:

    · Title: Trying For Home

    · Author: Me- but I use the pseudonym of Stark Wilson because it's cool (and because it's the name I've already used for many of my audiobooks)

    · What's it about: An umpire working the plate in a high stakes high school baseball game who struggles to keep his focus as developments in the game trigger memories of what has happened in his personal life that is filled with turmoil.

    · Who is going to like it: Hopefully you! I know my mom would have liked it because she really liked me and came to watch me play baseball. Otherwise, it's a Romance wrapped around an intense baseball game, so Romance lovers (women and dudes who are secure about their manhood) along with baseball fans, are going to dig this book. People who are into funky baseball situations that require alert rule applications will appreciate the diamond action.

    · Format: Currently in Ebook and print, with audio available soon

    · Where: Through February of 2026, it is available exclusively on Amazon; after that it will be available worldwide.

    · When: Right Now!

    · How much: $4.99 for the Ebook, $14.99 for the print version

How do I get mine: use this hyperlink Trying For Home

  • 50 Years without a Real Job: Wayne Faust (part II)
    Oct 15 2025

He sings. He plays multiple instruments. He tells jokes. He writes songs. He creates music videos. He plays hockey, even at the age of 70. He's an author of short stories and novels.

He's Wayne Faust, a man who hasn't held a real job in 50 years.

This is part II of our conversation about those 5 decades.

It's not easy to describe Wayne Faust's stage presence. He evokes shades of Harry Chapin, Jim Stafford, Steve Martin, and Ray Stevens. He dares to make audience interaction a substantial part of his show, including on-the-spot song compositions about his delighted patrons. It is easier to state that our guest has for over five decades successfully entertained people across America and overseas.

Wayne is a Renaissance man whose creativity includes playing multiple instruments, composing songs that range from novelty to nostalgia to inspiring, and authoring multiple novels. Join me for a conversation with a performer who is genuine, talented, and gifted in spreading joy.

  • Part II: Tears and Cheers, Poignant Moments in WHS Wrestling
    Aug 14 2025

Part II of this conversation among Wauconda wrestling coaches reflects over thirty years of coaching and competition to highlight moments on and off the mat that still burn bright in their collective memory, moments of victory with hands held high, and moments of turmoil where tearful eyes held the agony of defeat. Wrestling coaches Tom Nance, Tim Rennels, Todd Costa, and Kurt Rohlwing share moments in which young men and women were molded, often painfully, into young adults. Enjoy these reflections of tears and cheers that capture the essence of high school sports, the arena that challenges the spirit, that crafts the character, that leaves an indelible impression upon participants and all those involved.
