Have you ever been in a place where someone of great position and stature walked into the room and completely changed the dynamic of it? Even though this week's passage is just six verses, we will see a figure that looms large: The person of Jesus Christ. Matthew shows us how there is power in His presence and gives disciples of Jesus clues as to how we ought to emulate His life. Because if there is power in His presence, and His Holy Spirit lives in us, there ought to be power in our presence too.

People have different ways of doing things. Whether that be a task or a job, there is more than one way to accomplish them. When it comes to the topic of salvation, there are truly only two ways people approach it: Man's Way or God's Way. We often ask the wrong questions. Fortunately, Jesus always answers the right question. This Sunday we will look at a group of people trying to trap Jesus with a question about divorce. This is an extremely important question, but not the first one we should be asking. The world's standard of greatness is often defined by one's position, status, and accomplishments. In chapter 18 of Matthew, the disciples get caught up defining greatness according to these same standards but Jesus uses this moment to teach them what greatness actually looks like in God's Kingdom.
