    We are joined by the brilliant actress, Shannon Helene Barnes, where we discuss an array of topics from film to theater, Charles Band to Netflix, and inspirations for the performing arts.

    Shannon is a punk rock ingenue from the Northern Appalachian Mountains in Central Pennsylvania. Growing up in the woods, creating home movies and plays was her favorite pastime. Shannon considers herself a physical actor who grounds her characters in their relationships. She's passionate about collaboration, dark comedies, and using form to push the envelope. Film highlights include The Life List (Netflix), Eonian, and Quadrant (Full Moon). Shannon made her Off-Broadway debut at the NYC Fringe Festival in Update, a physical theatre piece she co-created and devised. Other notable theatre credits include Athena in Athena and Maddie in Hysterical!, both directed by Tracy Brigden. Her devised project Where Are You? received a residency in the Mabou Mines 2022 Suite/Space Festival. Shannon's folk band, Guipago Dreams, performs around NYC and has music out on all streaming platforms. Shannon holds a BFA in Theatre from NYU Tisch and trains at the William Esper Studio.

She has immersed herself in the world of visual storytelling, releasing her first short film 'Crowe' in 2023 and her second film, 'Toska', in 2024. Crowe has won five awards across multiple film festivals so far and continues to garner attention while Toska has only just begun the circuit, premiering in the Culver Theater in Culver City, CA as part of the Micheaux Film Festival in October 2024. Alessia continues to travel to represent her films in festivals across the United States.
