Mums F**king Matter with Lucy Wylde is a weekly podcast aimed at helping Mums to feel more seen and validated in their experiences of motherhood and matrescence. Just because society doesn’t (yet!) respect the monumental role of Mothers, it doesn’t mean that we can’t value ourselves. As a coach, yoga teacher, perinatal exercise specialist and Mum, Lucy shares her experience, passion and gentle activism for creating greater ease, pleasure and joy in body and mind, to help you adjust to one of life’s biggest transitions; Matrescence.Copyright 2026 Lucy Wylde Actividad Física, Dietas y Nutrición Crianza y Familias Ejercicio y Actividad Física Higiene y Vida Saludable Psicología Psicología y Salud Mental Relaciones

  • #02 Curating Our Village; An Interview with Dr Ellie Hambly
    Mar 17 2026

Dr Ellie Hambly is a Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience supporting families. Her work blends deep psychological expertise with a heartfelt belief: the way we parent has the power to shape not only our children’s lives, but the world.

Today, Ellie specialises in helping parents navigate the overwhelm of modern parenting. She understands the pressure to “do it all” and how easily that can lead to exhaustion and burnout. Her approach is holistic and compassionate. She supports parents to reconnect with their values, let go of unrealistic expectations, and create a life that feels more balanced, meaningful and sustainable.

Ellie lives in Kent with her husband, two children, and their spaniel. She loves family walks, reading with a cuppa, dinners with friends and family and absolutely adores her skiing holidays.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: From 34 minutes to 35 minutes I speak about sexual abuse recovery. From 40 minutes 10 seconds to 41 minutes 5 seconds AND from 43 minutes and 20 seconds to 45 minutes and 40 seconds Ellie speaks about her birth experiences.

PLEASE NOTE: At 31 minutes 15 seconds I have left a pause because I shared something with Ellie that I didn't wish to put out publicly but I wanted to leave in the reflection after my share.

In this episode we speak about:

    1. a bit about Ellie, her hobbies and her specialism as a psychologist
    2. studying Matrescence and how we/society really should revere Mothers more
    3. body literacy, listening to the wisdom we hold, and the profound value in rest
    4. how we're so often in a 'threat' response and what that can do to our brain and body
    5. the necessity of processing trauma with time and space
    6. what our children can teach us
    7. the systemic f**kery we're dealing with and what isn't our fault
    8. I have a BIG realisation at 52 minutes (and burst into tears)
    9. hyper-independence and how detrimental it can be

Themes: motherhood, matrescence, parenting, relationships, body literacy, cycle awareness, trauma processing, birth, domestic abuse

We mention Amy Taylor-Kabbaz, Minna Dubin, Dr Sophie Brock, 'Body Full of Stars' by Molly Cary May, Cath Counihan, 'Period Power' by Maisie Hill and Dr Rebecca Moore of 'Make Birth Better'.

To learn more about Ellie see here on Instagram, For more about what Ellie mentioned, her '28 Days of Gentle Support' click here for her website. And Ellie's Substack is 'Where the F* is the Village?'.

At the end, I read a poem written by Ellie herself.
