  • The Incarcerated Perspective on Pen Pals: Power, Control & Real Rehabilitation
    Mar 26 2026

Everyone talks about inmates scamming people on the outside…

But what if we’ve been missing half the story?

In Part 2 of our pen pal series, Dinero—an incarcerated author—shares what it actually feels like to be on the inside of these relationships.

    We cover:

The real reason inmates seek pen pals (it’s not always what you think)

How power imbalances can turn toxic

Why both inmates and outsiders can manipulate each other

The biggest mistakes people make when choosing a pen pal

What it really means to rehabilitate—not just say you have

Dinero doesn’t shy away from his past—including being charged with human trafficking—but instead explains what real change looks like and why accountability matters more than labels.

If you’re navigating a pen pal relationship, this episode is essential listening. This one will make you think differently.

  • Why I Wrote a Prisoner: Anna’s Pen Pal Story
    Mar 19 2026

Anna never expected that writing a letter to someone in prison would change the way she saw live forever.

In this episode of More Than an Inmate’s Girlfriend, we talk with Anna, a Canadian woman who originally began writing to inmates simply out of curiosity and a desire to understand people more deeply.

Coming from a relatively normal and privileged upbringing, Anna has always been fascinated by psychology and the stories behind human behavior. That curiosity eventually led her to become a prison pen pal — and that’s where she met Ricky.

What started as a simple exchange of letters quickly turned into something much more meaningful. Through their conversations, Anna discovered that people are far more complex than the worst thing they’ve ever done.

    In this conversation, Anna shares:

    • What made her decide to become a prison pen pal

    • The reality of writing to someone behind bars

    • What her friends and family thought about it

    • The unexpected ways Ricky has impacted her life

    • Why understanding the “why” behind someone’s story matters

This episode challenges stereotypes and reminds us that connection, empathy, and understanding can come from the most unexpected places.

Because sometimes all it takes is one letter to realize: people are more than their worst mistake.

  • A Daughter’s Goodbye: Losing Her Father to Cancer in Prison (Amber's Story)
    Mar 12 2026

In this heartbreaking episode of More Than an Inmate’s Girlfriend, Amber shares the story of her father — a man who spent much of her life in and out of prison, yet remained one of the most important people in her world.

Despite the barriers created by incarceration, their bond was unbreakable. But everything changed when Amber’s father was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer while incarcerated.

What followed was a painful journey filled with unanswered questions, limited information, and a system that seemed unwilling to provide transparency. Amber describes the emotional toll of trying to advocate for her father while being given almost no answers — including why he was never given chemotherapy or radiation.

She also shares the heartbreak of trying to spend time with him during his final months, navigating the challenges of prison visitation, and fighting to bring him home when he had less than a year remaining on his sentence.

Instead, Amber watched as her father’s health declined behind bars.

This episode explores the devastating reality many families face when a loved one becomes terminally ill while incarcerated — the lack of communication, the barriers to medical care, the difficulty accessing doctors, and the limited time families are allowed to share with those they love most.

Amber’s story is a powerful reminder that incarceration affects entire families, and that compassion and transparency are often missing when they are needed the most.

This conversation is emotional, raw, and deeply human — shedding light on a reality that too many families experience in silence.

  • Untrained Guards, Unheard Voices: How Tori Took on the County Jail System
    Mar 5 2026

In this episode, Tori shares how her journey into advocacy began while her boyfriend was still incarcerated in a county jail — a system far different, and often far more neglected, than prisons. She exposes the harsh realities many men face, including inhumane conditions like being forced to walk through sewage-filled floors, lack of oversight, and dangerously undertrained staff.

Despite resistance and pushback, Tori stepped forward and began fighting for the rights, dignity, and safety of incarcerated individuals — and saw real impact. Now a published author and current paralegal student, she has found her purpose: pushing for transparency, accountability, and better relationships between incarcerated people and jail staff.

This is a story of courage, awakening, and turning love into action — as Tori works to bridge the gap and create change where it’s needed most.

  • “My Husband Pleaded Guilty to Murder”: Kristin Brimager’s Journey of Love, Forgiveness, and Faith
    Feb 26 2026

Kristin Brimager, @therealinmateswife, shares her story from the very beginning.

She takes us back to when she first met her husband — young, in love, and on-and-off for years. She was ready to settle down. He had been married before and wasn’t sure he wanted that again. Their relationship grew through seasons of uncertainty before they finally committed and started building a life together.

    Then everything changed.

While attending a conference, Kristin was unexpectedly pulled aside by the FBI and questioned about her husband’s ex-girlfriend, who had been reported missing. At that point, no body had been found. What followed was confusion, fear, and standing by the man she believed was innocent.

She opens up about the trial, the shock of his guilty plea, and the moment her world completely collapsed. Kristin shares the scrutiny she faced, the bullying and media attention, and the painful journey of learning to forgive — not only him, but herself.

This episode is about faith in the aftermath of truth, about rebuilding love after devastation, and about navigating family, privacy, and public judgment. Kristin speaks candidly about how her faith became her anchor, how they moved forward as a family, what she wishes could be different about the system, and the advice she offers to women walking through similar storms.

  • From 9/11 Hero’s Daughter to Prison Advocate: Frankie’s Story
    Feb 19 2026

Frankie is not just an advocate — she is a force. Long before prison entered her life, she was already fighting for the rights of children and people with disabilities, driven by compassion and a deep sense of justice. The daughter of a police officer who lost his life saving others on 9/11, service and humanity were woven into who she is.

But everything changed when the man she loved was incarcerated and subjected to severe mistreatment and medical neglect. Instead of breaking, Frankie turned her knowledge, voice, and relentless determination toward fighting the system to protect him. Even after personal betrayal, she continues to advocate for the injustice he endured — a true reflection of her character, integrity, and heart.

Through humor, truth, and fearless transparency, Frankie uses her platform to educate, expose, and inspire. Her videos are as powerful as they are hilarious, and her mission is rooted in one simple belief: humanity must come first.

I’m incredibly grateful to sit down with Frankie today. Her story will move you, challenge you, and remind you what real strength looks like.

Make sure you follow Frankie — you don’t want to miss her voice, her fight, or her impact.

  • Forbidden Lines: The Therapist That Fell for the Inmate (Butterfly's story)
    Feb 12 2026

Butterfly never expected her life to change the day she walked into the prison as a therapist. Adam was known across the yard — a troublemaker, a leader, and the go-to guy. What began as professional contact slowly turned into something neither of them planned… or could stop.

In this episode, Butterfly shares how their relationship progressed and was inevitable- they were meant to be. She opens up about the emotional toll, the highs and lows of working inside, and why her success helping incarcerated men was seen as a threat rather than an achievement.

Despite the controversy, the accusations, and Adam now facing serious new charges that could keep him imprisoned for years, Butterfly has made one promise — she isn’t leaving his side. She speaks candidly about navigating love inside the system, fighting to keep her professional license, the lessons from her past that shaped her work, and why — in her experience — some of the most trustworthy people she met were the men behind the bars, not the staff.

  • The Glow-Up That Flipped the Script (Marie's Story)
    Feb 5 2026

Marie’s story starts on a pen pal website — unexpected, intense, and complicated from the beginning. She met a man 20 years younger than her at a time when she barely recognized herself. Overweight, exhausted from a previous relationship, and feeling like a “plain Jane,” Marie had lost the drive to take care of herself or feel desirable.

What followed was a two-year emotional rollercoaster filled with insecurity, jealousy, and unanswered questions. Was he talking to other women? Was her size holding her back? Was the age gap a fantasy or a ticking time bomb? Marie opens up about how deeply those doubts affected her — and how wanting to be “enough” for him pushed her to finally change.

She lost the weight. She found her confidence again.

    And then… the power shifted.

Now, Marie finds herself on the other side — being chased, desired, and fully aware of it. What once felt like insecurity has turned into control, and what began as vulnerability has evolved into a constant back-and-forth power struggle between two people who can’t seem to let go.

This episode doesn’t offer easy answers or a fairytale ending — just a raw, honest look at desire, transformation, and what happens when the balance of power in a relationship flips. Where they’ll end up next? Even Marie doesn’t know — but this is their story so far.
