  • MAGNET (Instant) Classics Podcast Episode 19: The Making Of Cashier's "The Weight"
    Mar 24 2026

For this edition of the (Instant) Classics series, MAGNET’s Hobart Rowland teamed up with How Did I Get Here? podcast host Johnny Goudie for a special South by Southwest chat in Austin with Kylie Gaspard and Jo Perillo of fast-rising indie phenoms Cashier. Slinking out of Lafayette, La., three years ago, they’ve already raised plenty of eyebrows with their grunge-inspired take on emo and shoegaze. Now touring behind their debut EP, The Weight, Cashier played no less than 16 shows at last week’s SXSW. They managed to stay upright long enough for this mid-conference chat.
