The Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues agreed on a trade that would send Colton Parayko to the Sabres in exchange for prospect defenseman Radim Mrtka and a 1st round pick, but Parayko exercised his no-trade clause to block the move. The reporting is he will only waive his clause to stay out west on a team like Anaheim or Los Angeles. How bad a look is this for the Sabres? Fans are not happy that the team still finds themselves in a situation where it's hard to convince players to come to Buffalo. Jarmo Kekäläinen very clearly is trying to make a big trade by Friday's NHL trade deadline. If it's not going to be Parayko, and it's not going to be Robert Thomas, who else is out there? With just a few days to go until the NHL trade deadline, there's a good amount of debate about just how aggressive Jarmo Kekäläinen should be. The Buffalo Sabres have come out of the Olympic break firing on all cylinders, winning all three games on the road. Most impressive is a road win against the East's best Tampa Bay Lightning, after playing the night before, by a score of 6-2! In one of their best wins of the season, the Sabres proved that this team is capable of achieving more than squeaking into the playoffs. They proved they can give the Lightning a run for their money if they meet in the postseason. Some sites now have the Sabres as high as 97% to make the playoffs! The Buffalo Sabres got back at it with a victory in New Jersey, led by a two point effort by Tage Thompson. A great shot on the Sabres' first goal, and a great pass to Peyton Krebs on the game-winning goal, Tage was a direct contributor on the Sabres' only two goals of the game. And on the game winner, Tage stripped Jack Hughes, his Team USA teammate. Krebs answered the bell playing on the top line, something he's had decent success at all season long. Mattias Samuelsson was dominant with some crazy good shot stats that prove it from the win. HOWEVER, the Sabres powerplay is still abysmal. Is there anything they can do to save it?
