  • Alan Wardlow | E18
    Jun 2 2025

Heather Morris in conversation with the incoming President of the Methodist Church in Ireland 2025-26, the Rev Alan Wardlow.

The President's theme for this year is: 'COMPELLED'

“For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”

    – 1 Corinthians 9:16

Embracing the Methodist Church in Ireland’s vision of “living wholeheartedly as followers of Jesus for the transformation of the world”, Alan will be encouraging the Church, empowered by the

Holy Spirit, to continue to proclaim Christ with boldness. Affirming that true and lasting spiritual growth begins within the individual, Alan’s prayer is that each of us would feel a deep, compelling urgency to take intentional steps to share the message of Jesus so that we will see many come to faith or experience a renewed commitment in the year ahead.

  • John Alderdice | E17
    May 30 2024

Heather Morris in conversation with the incoming President of the Methodist Church in Ireland 2024-25, the Revd Dr John Alderdice.

The President's theme for this year is:

'FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE WORLD'

‘But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.’ – 2 Corinthians 4:7

God’s plan for the transformation of the world starts with the call for all of us to be a transformed people. As wholehearted followers of Jesus, we must reflect and bear God’s image to the world around us.

John’s prayer is that the Methodist Church in Ireland would be full of transformed hearts and lives; living out a faith that goes beyond a Sunday and radically embraces and ministers to those most in need in our communities and beyond.
