En México, el debate sobre la enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras tiene dos caras. Por un lado, el inglés se promueve como clave para oportunidades globales. Por otro, algunoscritican su enseñanza como un “epistemicidio”, que hay que proteger al español.

Mientras tanto, no hay un plan nacional con una postura clara sobre la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de los idiomas extranjeros. Los maestros, sin la formación y apoyo necesarios, no pueden participar en decisiones importantes ni liderar proyectos locales que ayuden a crear una política educativa más amplia y justa. Por otro lado, algunos creen que la tecnología puede resolverlo todo, enseñando inglés con métodos poco sólidos que guiarán al profesor con unavisión comercial del idioma.
