Lily & Charlie discuss - Is the last thing you quit the hardest? John, an engineer and outdoor enthusiast, recounts his decade-long struggle with kratom addiction that began as an alternative to pain pills, leading to escalating use (from 120 grams per day in the early 2010s to 7oh isolates in 2025), financial ruin, and the loss of a significant relationship. After multiple failed attempts to quit (including a relapse after 2 years kratom free), he ultimately finds success through a combination of medication, family support and cold plunges, and now shares his story to help others facing similar challenges.

In the open, Charlie and Nolan discuss the fed's proposed 7OH ban. Jacob talks to interview guest Alyse about her journey from discovering kratom during bodybuilding training to struggling with addiction, multiple relapses, and ultimately seeking recovery through detox, medically assisted treatment, and support systems. While at time of this broadcast, she is kratom free for a couple months now, she is on a wait list to go to 30-day residential rehab to invest in long term abstinence from the green kava-kratom drinks, an addiction that caused her to lose a job and major strains on important relationships.

Jacob and Nolan open on how addiction is a lifetime journey thought not a permanent ongoing struggle. In the interview, Jonny became addicted to 7-OH in both liquid and tablet versions, which led to rapid tolerance and severe dependence. He ultimately quit after a car accident by entering a treatment facility, where he used Suboxone to help with withdrawal and later the Sublocade injection as part of his treatment plan, combined with structured recovery housing, community support, and daily routines like yoga and AA meetings.

    RPT model discussed by Johnny:

"Relapse Prevention Therapy" (RPT) based on research by Terence Gorsky:

appreciate this pod, don't have a severe case as some of the guests here, but I found it hard to quit the powder capsule habit that got out of hand the last year or so. it was nice to hear other people's stories and all the tips to get off especially as someone without a past history of addiction and all my existing knowledge about recovery is from watching the tv show intervention!

helps for kratom cessation

This show has been a gift from the universe as I tackle a terrible and insidious addiction to a “natural supplement.” You need real information about Kratom, and all related topics? You’ve found it.

INCREDIBLY HELPFUL

There is much bad faith and gaslighting from the industry and some advocates who insist only praise for this plant. If you actually listen to this podcast, you will hear a self-help volunteer team trying to assist others who have been addicted to kratom and can't quit. They make it clear it should not be banned, but there needs to be better warnings and regulations, and the industry should be less predatory.

The hosts acknowledge the potential harm reduction and therapeutic benefits of the herb. The reality is kratom can end up being a very problematic transfer or new addiction for many people, one that costs money and health, and can lead to relapse to more dangerous substances. Keep up this important work and we will keep listening.

Honest Negative Kratom Experiences

Garbage 'info', and the whole pod is a joke. Kratom has saved so many lives. You're a laughingstock, and maybe someday you'll see that. Probably not, your ridiculous ego trip would never allow it.
