  • Jesus, Passover and the Final Cup with Lon and Ryan Wiksell
    Mar 28 2026

Send me a text and let me know your thoughts!

To celebrate Episode 100, host Jan revisits one of her most meaningful conversations — a deep dive into Passover and its profound connection to Easter and the Christian faith. Joining her are Dr. Lon Wiksell and his son Ryan Wiksell, a father-son duo of ordained Christian ministers from very different faith traditions — Messianic Judaism and the Episcopal Church — who together founded Our Father Abraham to help Christians understand the Jewish roots of their faith.

In this rich conversation, Lon and Ryan walk us through the Passover Seder's four cups, rooted in Exodus 6, and reveal how the Last Supper wasn't a new event but a fulfillment — and continuation — of Passover. You'll discover why the Last Supper has never actually ended, how Psalm 118 was being sung by Jesus and his disciples on the night of his arrest, and what the Marriage Supper of the Lamb has to do with a Seder meal.

Lon and Ryan also discuss their new book trilogy, The Passover Trilogy, beginning with The Last Seder of James — a fiction/nonfiction hybrid that imagines the final night of James, the brother of Jesus, through the lens of Passover.

Jan closes the episode with a reading of Psalm 118 — the very psalm Jesus and his disciples sang together before going to the Mount of Olives.

🌿 Whether you're new to Passover or have celebrated it for years, this episode will leave you with a richer, more layered understanding of just how deeply the Old and New Testaments are woven together.

  • Step Out Anyway: What It Really Means to be Courageous
    Mar 21 2026

Send me a text and let me know your thoughts!

In this rich and honest conversation on Just Talkin' About Jesus, host Jan sits down with friends Lynn Shortman and Luba Shalya to talk about something every believer wrestles with — courage. Together, these three women unpack what courage really looks like in the life of a Christian: not the absence of fear, but the willingness to act in faith anyway.

Luba shares the courage it took to launch an online women's prayer group for Oregon, the grief of losing two children, and how speaking God's Word over her life — even 100 times a day — carried her through some of the hardest seasons imaginable. Lynn reflects on her Abraham-like leap of faith in 1977, packing up and driving across the country with no plan, which ultimately led her to meet God in a new place. Jan adds her own story of choosing life and integrity in the face of an unplanned pregnancy.

The conversation goes deep into biblical examples of courage — Job's unwavering trust through catastrophic loss, Esther's surrender as she walked before the king declaring "if I perish, I perish," and Mordecai's refusal to bow. Woven throughout is a powerful thread: the more intimately you know God, the more courageous you become.

  • "Were My Wounds Not Enough For You?" — Nakesha's Story of Abuse, Addiction & Radical Redemption
    Mar 1 2026

Send me a text and let me know your thoughts!

What happens when a child raised in severe abuse — physical, sexual, and spiritual manipulation — somehow hears a quiet voice saying you are meant for more?
Nekesha's story is one of the most remarkable testimonies of redemption you'll ever hear.

Growing up with a father who twisted scripture to justify abuse, Nekesha found herself homeless, addicted, and self-harming as a teenager — convinced she wasn't worth saving.

    But God had other plans.
Nekesha shares how a therapist's secret act of kindness, and a husband who barely believed in anything became the unlikely threads God used to weave her back together.

She opens up about forgiving her mother — and eventually welcoming her into her home.

About a 13-year battle with infertility that ended in surrender, and then a miracle. About finding her identity not in diagnoses or therapy labels, but in the image of God.

This is a story about what it looks like when the Lord doesn't just heal you — He transforms you.

  • Forgiving the Unthinkable: An Abortion Survivor Speaks
    Feb 7 2026

Send me a text and let me know your thoughts!

Amy Miles thought she knew her story: adopted as a premature baby with cerebral palsy by loving Christian parents. But when she decided to search for her birth mother after having her first child, she discovered a truth that would change everything—she had survived a failed abortion at 27-30 weeks gestation.

In this powerful episode, Amy shares her journey from shock and survivor's guilt to forgiveness and purpose. She opens up about:

    • The moment she learned she was an abortion survivor
    • How she went from being angry at God to leaning on Him more than ever
    • Finding community with 750+ other survivors through the Abortion Survivors Network
    • Forgiving her birth parents and reaching out to her birth mother
    • Why she now advocates for life and shares her story publicly

Amy's testimony is proof that every life has value, regardless of how it begins. God knew her before she was formed, and He had plans for her life from the very beginning.

    Key Statistics:

    • ~1,734 babies survive failed abortions in the US annually
    • 750+ survivors connected through Abortion Survivors Network
    • Many states have no protections for babies born alive after abortion

Resources: AbortionSurvivors.org "The Way to My Heart" by Jan (novel based on Amy's story)

    Scriptures: Jeremiah 1:5, Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 139:13-16

If you've been touched by abortion in any way, please know your story matters. There is healing, community, and hope available.
