  • Don’t Get Blindsided In Your Retirement
    Apr 30 2025
That's right. It's another bonus episode for this final week of April. A text arrived yesterday afternoon telling us that our youngest grandson's appendix ruptured. My son and daughter-in-law rushed him to Cook Children's Medical Center in downtown Fort Worth—the absolute best place to take a child in the DFW area. Sensing I might be needed, I asked my son, "Do you want me to head that way?" He replied, "Yes." Within an hour or so, I was off, leaving HSV to make the 5-hour drive back home to Texas, so I could take care of the other two grandkids while Mom and Dad stayed in the hospital with their little brother. As I drove, I reflected on our decision to purchase a house in Hot Springs Village. And all the things we considered. Today, I want to encourage you to continue thinking about the things that matter most to you. As much as I'd love for you to make Hot Springs Village your retirement destination, I mostly want you to get it right for YOU. • Join Our Free Email Newsletter • Subscribe To Our YouTube Channel (click that bell icon, too) • Join Our Facebook Group • Support Our Sponsors (Click on the images below to visit their websites.) __________________________________________ __________________________________________

  • Why Hot Springs Village Is Better Than Bentonville (for retirement)
    Apr 25 2025
Hot Springs Village is the largest gated community in south central Arkansas, spanning 26,000 acres in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. "The Village" features 11 lakes and 9 golf courses, 30 miles of walking trails, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and more clubs/organizations than I can count. Want community? We've got that in abundance. From boating, fishing, and hiking to all kinds of social activities, you can involve yourself as little or as much as you want. Natural beauty, serenity, and tranquility are staples of Hot Springs Village. The Village is not urban by any definition, but it's not country. Rural? Sure. Living in Hot Springs Village is like living in a very large park. Bentonville is situated in the Ozark Mountains in northwest Arkansas and offers many benefits such as hiking and fishing - not unlike Hot Springs Village. If you're a foodie and love local shopping, Bentonville may get your vote. If employment opportunities matter to you, Bentonville is the place to be. Let's hike around the DeSoto Trail and discuss why Hot Springs Village is better for retirement. • I’ve Been Walking These Streets (NOT) So Long
    Apr 22 2025
Yes, you know the opening line of Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy. Well, it's not the streets of Broadway, and I've not been walking them so long. This is Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and I've been walking some streets here since I first visited in September 2018. Join me. With over 30 miles of hiking trails, Hot Springs Village offers many more unofficial trails, thanks to many streets barely occupied by homes. When you visit, venture around the neighborhood where you're staying, but be even more adventurous by searching for some remote areas where you can walk as much (or as little) as you want without seeing anybody. Here's the episode about creating your own trail inside Hot Springs Village.
