With kids at school, they seem to bring home every sniffle and sneeze imaginable—and I’ve accepted that’s just part of parenting. What I don’t accept anymore? The frantic 11 p.m pharmacy runs - when everyone’s already miserable and all we have is a half-used bottle of who-knows-what from who-knows-when in the pantry. Now, I make sure to stock up **ahead of time. And I always look for Mommy’s Bliss: They’ve been making safe, gentle wellness solutions, like their Organic Baby and Kids' cough syrups, for more than 25 years. That means an ingredient list you can actually understand: no high fructose corn syrup, no dyes, no artificial sweeteners, and free from the top nine allergens. Their Pain & Fever medicine is also a staple—it’s the first-ever Clean Label Project certified acetaminophen - and safe for infants.Find Mommy’s Bliss in-store and online at major retailers. Your future self will thank you. There’s always a moment - maybe two weeks into the school year - where I stop and think: “Wait, wasn’t summer just five minutes ago?”Suddenly, we’re back in the rush of packing lunches, signing permission slips, and struggling to find a pair of matching socks every morning. That’s why I’ve started looking ahead to fall breaks now - before the long-weekend creeps up on me and feels less like a break, and more like being stuck at home for three days with three kids!My go-to for quick getaways? Booking an Airbnb. It’s a reset that still feels like home: games and toys for the kids, a big living room for family movie nights, and even bunk beds that kids claim are “way better than our beds at home.”Plus, do you ever think about how you can host your own home on Airbnb for another family to enjoy while you’re away? It’s a great way to earn a little extra income to put towards your own trip, school supplies, or next season’s cleats. Your home might be worth more than you think. Find out how much at airbnb.com/host.You know that feeling when you're in the car, on your way to drop-off, and you're just trying to get your kid to eat one bite of their breakfast? Or when you’re on the way home from school, wishing there was a volume dial to turn down the meltdown happening in the backseat? The back-to-school season is a lot, and moments like this are tough. That’s why I'm so excited to share that I teamed up with Chomps for a "Carpool Q&A," where I answered common questions from parents, like: What do I do when my kids fight constantly in the car? How can I help ease separation anxiety at drop off? And, what's the one song that's guaranteed to brighten the mood in my car? (I shared a personal favorite, and trust me, it's a good one....)Because let’s be honest - car chaos is real. And when you add a hungry kid to the mix? Forget it. Chomps has got you covered on the snacks: Their meat sticks are easy to stash in backpacks or glove compartments and are a good source of protein, so you’ve got one less thing to stress about mid-commute. And Good Inside has you covered on everything else.To watch the full video, go togoodinside.com/chompsGood Inside Members, love the podcast and want to keep the conversation going? • Let's Talk Back-to-School
    Aug 19 2025
Sharpened pencils, new backpacks, picture-perfect outfits. Even if back-to-school season looks shiny on the outside, it often comes with a swirl of messy feelings for kids and parents! In this episode, Dr. Becky unpacks why starting school is more than just a change in schedule - and how to stay sturdy during the turbulence of transitions. She reframes regressive behaviors and offers practical strategies for building routines, so you and your child can feel more connected, resilient, and confident handling whatever this year throws your way. Plus, don't miss the back-to-school speed round - where Dr. Becky shares her own childhood lunchbox must-haves and fifth-grade pencil pouch confessions.Get the Good Inside App by Dr. Becky: https://bit.ly/4fSxbzkYour Good Inside membership might be eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement! Then I experienced summer break as a parent.Summer parenting can feel like a full-time job - so by the time back-to-school rolls around, I find myself wondering: “Okay, when’s the real break happening?” Because honestly, the most enjoyable trips we’ve taken as a family tend to happen during long weekends and fall breaks - no pressure for picture-perfect moments, no meltdowns from the heat, and no built-up tension after weeks of constant togetherness. My go-to for these short and sweet trips? Booking an Airbnb: There’s space for everyone to spread out, a kitchen for easy meals, and separate bedrooms that let the grown-ups stay up after the kids go down. But you know what’s even better? While you’re away, you can list your own home on Airbnb, too! Hosting on Airbnb is simple, flexible, and gives you a little extra income to put towards your own trip (or those mounting back-to-school costs). Your home might be worth more than you think. Find out how much at airbnb.com/host.I had this moment last year where I thought maybe my kids’ school calendar was going to get the best of me. Picture day, volunteer sign-ups, early dismissal on Tuesday... wait, which kid has which game?If that sounds familiar, let me tell you about a life-saver: Skylight Calendar. It's designed to bring calm to your family's chaotic schedule. It pulls everyone's appointments, events, tasks, and lists into one simple touchscreen - right there in your home.Skylight Calendar syncs seamlessly with all of your existing calendars - Google, Apple, Outlook, even directly from your email - giving you custom views for daily, weekly, or monthly planning. My favorite feature? “Tasks” helps kids build healthy routines, and you can even assign colors to each family member (“I always choose Good Inside yellow for myself”), eliminating confusion and those endless "I just forgot!” And with the Skylight app, you can instantly add or update anything on the go.Right now, Skylight is offering our listeners $30 off their 15 inch Calendars by going to SkylightCal.com/BECKY.

  • A Different Take on Screen Time
    Aug 12 2025

We all know too much screen time isn’t good for kids—and our instinct as parents is to protect them from it. But when fear shapes how we manage screens at home, it can quickly turn into shame the moment they pick one up.

In today’s world, where screens are woven into so much of daily life, the real challenge is to face that reality with thoughtfulness - and to make choices guided by our values, not by guilt. In this episode, Dr. Becky sits down with screen time expert Ash Brandon, EdS (@thegamereducator) to talk about the moral judgments, practical boundaries, and family-specific choices that shape our approach to screens.

When it comes to school snacks, I’ve never been the “pack my kid a portable charcuterie board” kind of parent. If you are, more power to you. I’m more of a “grab-and-go” type - I want something simple, nutritious, and easy for my kids to reach for as we’re heading out the door. That’s why I like Chomps. Their full-size meat sticks have 10 grams of protein and zero sugar. They’re filling and made from real ingredients, so it’s one less thing to think about. And if you’ve ever opened your kid’s backpack to find a half-eaten snack from who-knows-when still wrapped up in there, Chomplings are great. They’re smaller sticks (the right size to toss in a lunchbox or that little front backpack pocket) with 4 grams of protein and zero sugar.

Chomps are made of high-quality ingredients like 100% grass-fed beef, venison, and antibiotic-free turkey. They’re also free from the top nine allergens, so you don’t have to worry about sending them to school. Check out all the sizes and delicious flavors at Chomps.com/DRBECKY for 15% off plus free shipping.

We say it all the time at Good Inside: Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish - it’s self-sustaining. But let’s be honest: Self-care can feel impossible without reliable childcare. You can read real parent reviews, connect with sitters directly, and even set up interviews, all in one spot.

Whether you’re craving a solo errand run, a date night out, or need after school support, Sittercity can give you the logistical support you need to show up for yourself. Find a sitter or nanny that’s perfect for your family at sittercity.com and use code "goodinside" for 25% off the annual or quarterly premium subscription plans.

If you’re anything like me, you’re running out of summer activity ideas for your kids! Well, exciting news for parents everywhere: Good Inside just teamed up with the Play-Doh brand and Walmart to bring you a video series on how to help kids build life-long skills like imagination, confidence, and frustration tolerance - all through open-ended play! The best part: I promise this isn’t another thing to add to your already packed plate as a parent. No hours of prep, no need for picture-perfect setups. All you need is a Play-Doh can or two.

Head to walmart.com/playdoh to watch the videos. That’s walmart.com/playdoh. I can’t wait to hear what your kid creates.

This was an enlightening episode, fascinating, really! We all do have different voices and I loved how we can ask our calm self to stay. Things go better when that self stays. When we are sick or tired and do or say things we regret it is very important to repair! Go back apologize and tell them how you wished you would have handled it. I also loved how you praised the mom that was just present with her child.

Wow! The Voices in our Head!

I am a parent coach myself and the father of four year old twin boys. I have read lots of books about parenting young children and have appreciated the value of many parenting “experts.” Listening (binging) to Dr.Becky over the last month has solidified many of my ideas and really helped me with lots of practical ideas to support my children. She covers it all. Nervous system regulation, boundaries, emotional validation and does this while affirming the emotional toll that comes with being a parent. I bow to Dr. Becky’s insight and creative, honest exploration of her own parenting process. I listened to these podcasts while riding my bike to work and there were many times I was pumping my fists in the air knowing that other parents are learning these skills and helping to create a healthier future for their children. Thank you Dr. Becky.

The best parenting advice available.

“Parenting is so easy!” said no one ever... and PS, there is no handbook... until now. Dr. Becky is my go to source for parenting techniques and I swear by her golden nuggets of practical and realistic advice. I even catch my own “self talk” shifting from a place of shame and blame to curiosity and nurturing. She is a total family game changer. I am a huge HUGE fan and highly recommend this podcast, her IG, workshop and anything else! Thank you for including us in your journey, Dr. Becky! You are such an inspiration!

Hands down, Dr. Becky is EVERYTHING!

As a mom of two, degree in ECE, and over 10 years of working with young children this podcast is not something I’m impressed with. I listened to two of them. I will be looking for a better approach to positive reinforcement and natural consequences.

Not impressed.
