  • Music For Fertility
    May 24 2024

You may be wondering if you read this title properly. Yes, I’am actually implying that music can be therapeutic for fertility. Mostly by means of reducing stress, since the stress response has such a dramatic impact on your hormones. The stress of trying to conceive can be all-consuming. Music has been proven to alter brain waves and reduce cortisol (your main stress hormone). Why not use smooth tunes to improve wellbeing as you go through this challenging time?

Music has been a part of human culture for millennia, and its effects on the human body have been widely explored. Music can stimulate the release of endorphins, our which can boost mood and promote relaxation. In fact, certain types of relaxing music can also modulate heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing. Music actually helps regulate some hormonal feedback systems, such as your HPA axis (hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis). The HPA regulates how stress affects other systems, such as your reproductive hormones.

It’s no secret that chronic stress can wreck havoc on the body, often disrupting ovulation cycles, suppressing progesterone production or and causing free radical damage. Research suggests that music – with its ability to soothe, uplift, and even regulate physiological responses – has the potential to be an incredibly valuable tool in the journey towards conception. A study of 60 female volunteers, for example, suggests that calming music brought down their stress responses almost instantly. So, Whether you're trying to conceive naturally or undergoing fertility treatments, incorporating music into your daily routine might not only enhance your fertility but also make your journey more enjoyable. Tune into today’s episode to get the goods on all things music and fertility.

    You’ll Learn:

    • The effects of stress on the reproductive system
    • Research about music on stress
    • Types of music to listen to

  • The Juice Protocol
    May 11 2024

Todays’ episode shines a spotlight on the importance of food as medicine when it comes to enhancing your fertility. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to overlook the profound connection between the foods we consume and our overall health. Yet, this relationship is incredibly crucial. Viewing food as medicine encourages us to view our diet not merely as a means to satisfy our hunger, but as a powerful tool to enhance our health, prevent diseases, and promote longevity. All of which are essential for promoting healthy fertility. Today, we look at three foods in particular: watermelon, beetroot & ginger and their relationship to uterine receptivity.

Watermelon is rich in antioxidants is is linked to increasing NO (nitric oxide), a potent vasodilator (i.e. improves blood flow). Beetroot is also rich in several other bioactive compounds that also enhance blood flow and provide antioxidant and antiinflammatory benefits, particularly for disorders characterized by chronic inflammation. Not to mention that it is a great vegetarian source of iron. Last but not least, ginger! This superfood possesses multiple biological activities to enhance uterine receptivity and increase blood flow. Together - they make for a killer fertility enhancing combination.

The data suggest that the intake of beetroot, watermelon and ginger juice significantly improved implantation and pregnancy rates. For example, a randomized study enrolled 436 female patients undergoing IVF with ICSI cycles over a period of 3 years. The clinical pregnancy rate (41% vs. 22%) were significantly higher in the "juice" group compared to the control group.

You don’t want to miss this one! Tune in for all things nutrition and fertility.

    You’ll Learn:

    • The role of diet in your fertility efforts
    • The benefits of Watermelon, Beetroot & ginger for your fertility
    • Research supporting the roll of superfoods and fertility success

  • Ovarian PRP with Dr. Jesse Hade, MD.
    May 2 2024

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is making headlines in the field of fertility, with ovarian PRP emerging as a promising approach for women facing certain egg quality challenges. This type of treatment involves injecting a woman's own platelet-rich plasma into her ovaries. PRP is a concentration of platelets and growth factors created from a patient's own blood. These growth factors can stimulate cellular regeneration and may help to improve ovarian function and increase IVF success. Its been used for decades in the beauty industry, hair growth and in healing a variety of conditions. Why not try it for fertility as well?!

Dr. Jesse Hade, MD, REI and his colleagues at Generation Next Fertility Center in NYC conducted a study to assess just that. They found that this therapy may be particularly beneficial for women experiencing premature ovarian failure or diminished ovarian reserve, conditions that impact the quantity and quality of eggs available for fertilization. Ovarian PRP is also being explored as a treatment option for women who have had poor responses to IVF cycles.

Tune in as we are joined by Dr. Jesse Hade, MD, REI - a compassionate board-certified reproductive endocrinologist with over two decades of private practice experience, is a leading expert in fertility and has earned numerous awards for his research. Is Ovarian PRP right for you? Listen in and find out!

    You’ll Learn:

    • What Ovarian PRP treatment is
    • How PRP treatment is beneficial for fertility
    • Who can benefit from this treatment

    Apr 25 2024

Today’s episode is a nutritional spotlight on pomegranate! Pomegranate has long been seen as a sacred fruit in most world religions as well as ancient mythologies. It’s mentioned in the Jewish Torah, the Old Testament in the Bible, and even ancient Babylonian texts. The fruit is generally associated with health, strength and abundance. However, eating pomegranate can also be helpful for supporting your fertility.

This is especially helpful for enhancing sperm quality and protecting from oxidative damage. It has an amazing ability to increase blood flow and has been studied for its ability to improve athletic performance. It's also helpful for fertility and hormonal challenges (including menopause) due to their ability to regulate estrogen balance and support liver health. According to a systematic review, pomegranate extract increases cervical fluid, thickness of the uterine lining and blood flow in animal studies. Other research even highlights its use in fighting breast cancer!

Tune in to today’s session to get the scoop on all the ways in which pomegranates can aid in your fertility and overall health.

  • Sleep, Stress & Fertility
    Apr 20 2024

Is the quality of your sleep a defining figure in your fertility outcomes? That's what I aim to hash out in this session of Fertility in Focus. Sleep is not often the first thing that comes to mind when we think about fertility, but it may play a crucial role in reproductive health. Lack of sleep or irregular sleep patterns can disrupt the balance of key hormones, including those responsible for reproduction. Interrupted or short sleep duration is associated with everything from poor follicle development to implantation challenges. Not to mention inflammation, blood sugar imbalances, and of course, stress. Good sleep enhances the production of hormones such as progesterone and fosters healthy thyroid function. Poor sleep, on the other hand, is associated with estrogen dominance, progesterone deficiency and thyroid irregularities.

Sleep deprivation is both caused by and contributes to elevations in stress hormones like cortisol, which can disrupt reproductive hormones, make your ovaries underperform and impact uterine receptivity. According to the research, one study found that sleep disturbance, assessed using the single item query “do you experience disturbed sleep?”, occurred in 34% of infertile women (10). In addition, women with diminished ovarian reserve were found to be 30 times more likely to have disturbed sleep, another study found that greater than 35% of women receiving intrauterine insemination reported disturbances in their sleep.

If sleep has been an issue for you, don’t panic! Lifestyle changes and Eastern medicine can be incredibly helpful when it comes to enhancing your sleep quality. Build a healthy evening routine and avoid stimulating activities before bed. Aside from lifestyle, supplementing with magnesium, GABA, & valerian root can be a game changer. From an Eastern Medicine perspective, herbs such as Ashwagandha, Gui Pi Tang, Suan zao ren tang & Gan Mai Da Zao Tang can also help to improve your sleep quality. Better yet, get an all-in-one solution when you purchase our “Bespoke” Junk Juice option. Fill out a brief questionnaire and get a formula customized for your individual needs.

Tune into today's session to get the scoop on all things sleep and fertility!

    You’ll Learn:

    • The correction between stress and lack of sleep
    • Research linking lack of sleep to infertility
    • The importance of a healthy nighttime routine

  • Tips for Handling the Roller Coaster
    Mar 28 2024

The stress is high when things aren't quite panning out as we'd expected. Not to mention the hormonal roller coaster can be enough to make you feel insane. The physiological aspect is a real thing. One might say we are somewhat ruled by our hormones. And when you start tinkering with them using fertility medications, our brain chemistry can become a bit unstable. The build-up of excess estrogen can take a massive toll on our mental and physical well-being. For example - estrogen patches or oral medications can make us feel irritable, short-fused fused and easily overwhelmed. Progesterone could make you feel lazy while oral meds like clomid can cause insomnia - and the list goes on.

Dietary and lifestyle changes can have a tremendous impact on your body's ability to deal the hormonal and emotional roller coaster. Cleaning up your daily habits by incorporating something like the elimination diet, increasing your movement and prioritizing sunlight can not only increase your odds of success but help you keep your sanity along the way. Herbs and supplements are also indispensable when the going gets tough. In this session, we will go over some of my faves that treat fertility and mental health simultaneously.

From an Eastern perspective, weekly acupuncture is an incredible tool that aids in stress reduction and ups your odds. And don’t forget about the power of mindfulness. Meditate and fill your psyche with positive affirmations and stories that lift your spirit. We can handle so much more when we steer our focus towards the things that bring light.

Tune into today’s session to get all the tips and tricks on how to survive and thrive amidst your fertility journey.

    You’ll Learn:

    • The importance of a clean diet and lifestyle
    • Supplements for mental health and fertility
    • Mindfulness and mindset
