X spots Lily for the first time. Although she’s blissfully unaware of the danger to come, life as she knows it will never be the same again.

A cautionary tale. Much can be learned.
I finished 3 episodes and there’s one important fact revealed though almost buried: Lily never responded to X.
We’re born with a social contract, an obligation to be mannerly to strangers. Ignoring someone who is greeting you or vying for your attention is very rude. While X is a nutcase not worth interacting with, Lily was obliged to acknowledge his existence and tell him bluntly that his attention was unwanted. For a man (and probably a woman for all I know) with an infatuation there is nothing worse than being ignored. It can literally drive someone crazy.

Lily is trying to have all things. She craves the adoration of her fans yet wishes the power and control of anonymity. And now she is claiming the virtue of victimhood as she’s locked in a power struggle.
(Since 2001 especially, the news media and politicians have been calling victims heroes as if they have done something honorable to earn victim status. Increasingly, people have sought this moniker and seek to hang on to it. Leftists primarily have leveraged victims-as-heroes to gain influence while it’s the nature of rightists to disclaim victimhood as a goal.)

Certainly Lily is a victim and X is in the wrong. But let us also recognize that Lily’s problem is partly of her own making. Celebrities have an obligation to be fair and courteous to their fans as we all are obliged to mind our manners.

Lily was rude

.. Love this subject to enjoy this. Sorry, just could not get into this. Hard pass.

This is a carefully constructed series about living with being stalked. The first episode is heavy, confusing/disorienting because being stalked is confusing - stay with it! It’s immersive (esp w how this podcast uses sound to create a sense of anxiety and dread).

It’s a really honest account of what stalking does to you. This is not a hard boiled crime story. It’s a slow boil memoir of living inside a crime.

Be careful about when and how you listen because it’s the kind of thing that can keep you up at night!

Worth It

Good intro to what the rest of the episodes are going to be about. It got me interested in continuing to listen to the podcast. I'm about 3 episodes in and still interested. The performance is good. I usually don't like music or sound effects in books, but in this series I haven't found it to be distracting. One sound effect did embarrassingly make me spin and block. I was in the kitchen, wearing headphones and it sounded like something was falling down behind me. Otherwise, good read.

Interesting podcast

Couldnt get into the production of this podcast nor Lily’s voice. If you can get passed the over production then maybe you’ll be into this.
