  • The Marriage Divide: Why Women’s Friendships Take a Hit
    Apr 22 2023
Women do not voluntarily close their doors to their friends after marrying. One of the most common pieces of marital advice given to women is to concentrate on their husband and their marital family. Unfortunately, even today, both working and stay-at-home women are expected to do all or a majority of the cooking, household chores, and parenting. All this consumes their time and energy, leaving no space for them to stay in touch with their friends regularly.

  • Beyond Spanking: Effective Discipline Techniques for Parents
    Apr 22 2023
Inarguably, every parent’s desire is to ensure their kid turns out right. I like to believe this is where the similarity ends. How each parent ensures that their child turns out right is an entirely different topic. Either way, one thing is clear, there is “no right parenting tactic.” We aren’t born with it. We CHOOSE how we parent based on “experience, knowledge, and the tactics that we believe would work.

Being in touch with one's ex usually comes with a lot of challenges and moral dilemmas. • Living with Endometriosis & Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)- Our Story
    Feb 15 2023
Both endometriosis and PCOS are complex hormone conditions with symptoms that may vary widely while also resembling other conditions. However, what both have in common is that they increase the chances of not being able to conceive while leaving in their wake numerous conditions that could affect the quality of life of affected women. On this episode, Amaka and I shared our experiences navigating both conditions, how we discovered we had these conditions, the after effect on our bodies and how we are navigating our lives following this diagnosis. We hope you enjoy this episode. If you have a woman currently experiencing any of the symptoms we mentioned, please share this episode with them. The struggles that many women experience when trying to receive a diagnosis for these types of conditions is part of a larger problem when it comes to women’s health. Historically, women have experienced inequality in the kind of healthcare and treatment they have received – which is known as the gender health gap. Women’s pain is treated less aggressively than men’s even when they rate it more severely, it lasts longer or occurs more often. Black women may also be more disproportionately affected by PCOS and Endometriosis. Though the reasons for this aren’t fully understood, it might partly be due to poorer access to healthcare.
