  • S3, E2: When Worlds Collide by Maroon
    Jan 20 2026

Didn't Go Platinum travels to Germany, circa 2006, to look at what may be the best metalcore album that most of you have never heard of: it's When Worlds Collide by Maroon.

Joining regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is the one and only Dazz Freeman of the Bangers And Mosh podcast. The lads talk everything from veganism to mosh calls and that absolutely killer bit where Maroon go full power metal for around thirty seconds.

They also mercilessly rip the piss out of Brokencyde.

You can follow Didn't Go Platinum on Instagram and Threads at @dngplatinum or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

You can find Dazz on Instagram.

And you can check out When Worlds Collide itself on Spotify.

No we don't mean Maroon 5, this is definitely not about Maroon 5.

  • S3, E1: The Harvest Floor by Cattle Decapitation
    Jan 13 2026

New year, new series: Didn't Go Platinum returns to look at more unloved and underrated metal albums, and we're starting off with some vegetarian death metal.

Host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined by Ebony Jeanette to discuss The Harvest Floor, the 2009 release by Cattle Decapitation. This album has gone overlooked in favour of their later work, but is an important transitional work and a major piece of the Cattle Decapitation puzzle. Discover why it deserves more love.

There's also a brief chat about their very first release, the all-but-forgotten demo Ten Torments Of The Damned.

You can find Ebony on her home website and if you're a parent, be sure to check out her recently released metal-themed colouring book.

I can also recommend her guide to surviving the Music PR Industry, and not just because it has a shark on the cover.

  • S2, Episode Twenty-One: Heaven That Dwells Within by Wormwitch
    Dec 3 2025

Didn't Go Platinum goes all grim and frostbitten as we head into winter. Regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined by Brother Paul of the Menn Metal Mayhem podcast to discuss Heaven That Dwells Within by Wormwitch.

This Canadian band delivered the goods on their stunning second album, but for some reason never got the credit they deserved. Maybe it's because Canada isn't the place folks look for their black metal? On this episode, Tim and Paul take a deep dive into a freezing, but surprisingly fun slice of black 'n' roll.

You can find Paul and the Menn Metal Mayhem podcast on Instagram and Spotify.

You can follow Didn't Go Platinum on Instagram and Threads at @dngplatinum or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

And of course, you can find Heaven That Dwells Within on Spotify too.

  • S2, Episode Twenty: All Hail by Norma Jean
    Nov 13 2025

Didn't Go Platinum wanders back into the metalcore realm. For this episode, we're taking a deep dive into All Hail by Norma Jean. The Georgia veterans were among the first wave of metalcore bands to threaten the mainstream, but have tended to be overshadowed by their more famous peers. All Hail is their eighth full-length album, and it's a cracker.

This record was suggested by the horror writer Molly Macabre, who joins regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones to discuss why All Hail might have got lost in the mix. Along the way, the duo also talk about the practicalities of fighting zombies with a nailgun and precisely what the difference is between regular and Christian metalcore. Slight spoiler: it's Christianity.

You can find more about Molly and her work at her official website, and check out her books on Goodreads.

You can also email the show at dngplatinum@gmail.com or follow us on Threads and Instagram.

And you can find All Hail by Norma Jean on Spotify.

  • S2, Episode Nineteen: In Disgust We Trust by Mistress
    Nov 4 2025

Didn't Go Platinum dives into the British metal underground of the 2000s, to discuss a band that scared the living daylights out of Tim when he was a fresh-faced, wide-eyed young metalhead: it's Mistress and their excellent third album, In Disgust We Trust.

Joining him for this foray into filth is none other than Jon Rhodes of Rotherham's finest sludge maestros, Swamp Coffin. They discuss the rather frayed relationship between Mistress and their record label, the grimy appeal of the UK scene, and how a certain black metal band are reminiscent of In The Night Garden.

You can follow the show on Instagram and Threads at @dngplatinum or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

Be sure to check out Swamp Coffin on Bandcamp and Facebook, and see the slowest wall of death ever, here.

And of course, you can find In Disgust We Trust on Bandcamp.

  • S2, Episode Eighteen: Archetype by Fear Factory
    Oct 28 2025

    HUH!

Didn't Go Platinum travels to a futuristic hellscape filled with Hunter Killer Robots! For this episode, we're looking at Archetype by Fear Factory.

Tim is joined by the returning Lindsay from The Heavy Metal Journal to discuss what could be considered as the "lost Fear Factory album." It's usually overlooked in favour of the band's three classics (Demanufacture, Obsolete, and Mechanize), but it's chock full of industrial metal bangers and deserves more.

You can follow Lindsay on Instagram and find The Heavy Metal Journal on YouTube.

Didn't Go Platinum is on Threads and Instagram, and you can email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

And of course, you can check out Archetype by Fear Factory on Spotify.

  • S2, Episode Seventeen: The Transient Effects Of Light On Water by This Day Forward
    Oct 7 2025

Didn't Go Platinum enters the world of 'proper' metalcore. Tim is joined by journalist and hardcore aficionado Ellis Heasley to discuss The Transient Effects Of Light On Water, by This Day Forward. One of the unsung heroes of the late nineties/early 2000's metalcore scene, This Day Forward were contemporaries of bands like Poison The Well, but remain little known even in hardcore circles.

We visit their excellent second album and discuss why it may have got lost in the mix. We also look at the differences between skinny guy metalcore and beefy guy metalcore, and Ellis asks if violins belong in heavy music.

    Sep 23 2025

It's another double feature on the Didn't Go Platinum podcast. Tim is joined by Tom Dunt and Chris Taylor of the fantastic post-hardcore band Compounds to discuss two of their favourite underrated albums.

First up, we explore Reuben's Very Fast, Very Dangerous album, which seems to have lived forever in the shadow of its big brother, Racecar Is Racecar Backwards. Next, we're engaging the hyperdrive and chasing Captain Spectacular through space, with Devin Townsend's Ziltoid The Omniscient.

Along the way, we discuss our histories with both albums and why we love them, and find out why My Chemical Romance are the Pokémon of emo bands. Join us! We looked up how to put an accent on the e and everything.
