News: The next two Disneyland After Dark Nites are finally going on sale this week. Starting on Thursday, February 5th, at no earlier than 9am Disneyland time, tickets will be available to the public for Disneyland After Dark: Disney Channel Nite and Star Wars Nite. Tuesday and Wednesday tickets will be open for Magic Key Holders. Disney Channel Nites will take place on April 12th, 14th, and 16th. This year, Penny Proud from “The Proud Family” will join other Disney Channel characters. Star Wars Nites will take place on April 28th, and 30th, and May 4th, and 6th. Not only do the ART busses service a lot of the area hotels, but they also transport guests from the Toy Story Parking Lot to the resort. This leaves guests needing to walk, take a ride share, or rent a car to get from their hotels to the resort. Soarin’ Over California is also returning until July 1, when the new Soarin’ Across America will premiere. On Main Street, Disney Legend Martha Blanding, whose book is our book club pick, musician Scott Joplin, and Frederick Douglass will be honored in a window. Other honorees are locatred in New Orleans Square, look for Disney animator Ron Husband. At Tiana’s Palace, Leah Chase, the inspiration for Tiana is celebrated. In Tomorrowland, former astronaut Guion S. Bluford Jr., and in Frontierland, musician Dom Flemons. Over in DCA, on Buena Vista Street, Disney Legend Floyd Norman, in Hollywood Land Austin Taylor, Disney Visual Effects Animator Marlon West, Disney Lightning Supervisor Olun Riley, and Imagineer and Inventor Lanny Smoot. News: Lunar New Year kicked off last week, and with it came some new merchandise. A new Loungefly Lunar New Year crossbody bag with detachable coin purse for $75, a removable-bow ear headband for $36.99, and a Spirit Jersey decorated with lanterns and gold-accented clouds for $84.99 are some of the new items. A Lunar New Year teacup featuring Horace, Mickey and Minnie for $19.99, and a six-piece lucky red envelope set for $19.99 are some of the collectables. Some of the themed photo areas this time were the rooftops of Paris for the Aristocats, the balcony from Aladdin, a Toontown picnic, and the “Kiss the Girl” scene from The Little Mermaid. Some uncommon characters were also around like Oswald the Lucky Rabbit with Ortensia, Princess Kida and Milo Thatch from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and The Country Bears offering Bear Hugs. Porto’s Bakery & Cafe is coming along as the demolition of the former Earl of Sandwich location is moving along. The old building should be completely cleared soon. Gordon Ramsay visited the resort to check on the progress of Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, which will be located upstairs from the new Earl of Sandwich. News: Not too far in the future, in a land very close to home, some changes are coming! Beginning April 29th, more Star Wars eras are coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker will arrive on Batuu. The Galactic Civil War and New Republic, as well as the Age of the Resistance and First Order will be represented. The Original Trilogy characters will be mainly around the spires and Millennium Falcon, while the forested area near Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be the Age of Resistance. Throughout the land, music from John William’s musical score will be heard. The Cantina Band tune will emanate from Oga’s Cantina. News: This February, Disney California Adventure will turn 25! To celebrate this milestone, Magic Key holders can pick up a magnet set commemorating the event. The kiosk is installed and could open at any time. News: The newest Disneyland documentary we are all waiting for has a release date. Disneyland Handcrafted will premiere on Disney+ and Disney YouTube on January 22nd. The film covers the creation of Disneyland with rare, first-hand archival footage leading up to the opening in July, 1955. Leslie Iwerks and her team searched through over 100 hours of raw material from Disneyland in its earliest days. - https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/disneyland-handcrafted-release-date-and-more-details/ The first part of the Disneyland Forward project has a permit, with work beginning soon. The permit is for a 3.2 million square foot, 8-level open parking structure with 302 EV charging spots. This is the first part that needs to be completed before the additional capacity can be built and opened with the rest of the project. The new structure should hold 6,000 vehicles and feature a rideshare area, and transit hub. Haddy, a 3D printing company, has partnered with Disney to create a boat that will be installed in The Jungle Cruise as a prop. The process from design to completion will be sped up with the 3D printing process, as opposed to the previous molding process that could take thousands of hours to get just right. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is closed and will reopen January 23rd. In the latest Disney Unscripted episode, they follow the crew that transforms the land from Halloween to Christmas overnight. The new key will have extended availability in the summer, opening up a lot of days in June and July that the Enchant Key was blocked out for. New electronic signs have debuted that give guests directions on where to go to get to certain locations in the park. The video showed off a model of the classic attraction in the park, in front of the full-sized attraction. The video goes on to show the creation of the miniature, which features 120 individual bushes, trees, and shrubs, and took over 200 hours to create. Construction walls have gone up and encircle the ticket booths on the Disney California Adventure side of the west esplanade. This is a great sign of progress. The old Tortilla Jo’s location, which has been sitting stagnant since demo finished in the summer, is still happening, but waiting on permits with the city to continue.
