Just a few days before Christmas in 1992, 25-year-old Christy Mirack failed to show up for her job as a teacher at a local middle school. When the principal stopped by her house to check on her, he discovered a gruesome murder scene. Despite witnesses providing a description of the suspected murderer, investigators found nothing but dead ends. It soon became clear that it would take more than old-fashioned detective work to track down the killer.

On a cold, winter night in 2011, 28-year-old Ellen Rae Greenberg was found dead in her Pennsylvania apartment. She had received a total of 20 stab wounds, 10 of which were to her back and neck. The medical examiner looked at the case and said, "Yeah, that's a textbook suicide right there." Did Ellen suddenly decide to kill herself in the most painful way possible, or was she murdered?
