  • Mi Vida Como Inmigrante
    Jun 19 2024

Welcome to my sixth episode of Charlemos Juntas. In this episode, I am joined by my sister-in-law, Morena, who talks about her life as an immigrant. Morena was born in El Salvador and lived there until she was 16. She talks about her mother making the difficult decision to leave El Salvador to try and create a better life for her family. Morena opens up about how difficult it was for her to grow up without her mother around, missing important milestones in her life. She talks about how her grandmother and aunts helped raise her and give her a good childhood. Morena describes her decision to come to the United States as something she always considered and jumped at the opportunity when one of her uncles decided to migrate, in search of better opportunities. She opens up about how hard it was at first because her mother had more children after she came to the US. She didn't know what it was like to be an older sister and it was something she had to adjust to. Morena also talks about how difficult it was to learn English at 16 and attend school in a new country. She talks about how she came to Texas where she met her husband and now has a beautiful family. She talks about the great support that her husband gives her and how hard he works every day to provide for his family. She also mentions the great support system she has with her in-laws and how loved her children are by their grandparents. In conclusion, Morena provides some advice to Latinas going through similar situations.

Don't give up. No te rindas.

  • Navigating Through Life as a Woman
    May 29 2024

Welcome to my FIFTH episode (I accidentally said sixth) of Charlemos Juntas. In this episode, my special guest Isabel, joins me and talks about her struggles through her school years and how she decided to stop speaking Spanish to try and fit in. Isabel also talks about her mom and how she navigated through single motherhood while also being an immigrant from Panama. We discuss how racism is not one-sided and we are judged by the color of our skin, even by our own people. Isabel talks a little bit about her biological father and how he is a total mystery, leaving her wondering who he is. We randomly dive into the topic of relationships and what our relationships mean to us. Isabel talks about navigating through tough relationships and healing from them. We discuss how it is okay to be career-driven and to be a SAH wife/mom. Isabel opens up about her experience with abortion and how it was not an easy decision. I open up about my experiences with miscarriages and how they each affected me differently. We also talk about how becoming a mother is not a decision that comes lightly. The world is scary and dangerous and because of that, we are hesitant to bring children into it. We talk about how shootings that have happened in the past affect the way we live our lives today. I talk about my experience with a man who followed me home and how my life has not been the same since. Isabel gives some good advice and talks about how life does get better as long as you are willing to keep fighting.

  • It's Out Of My Control
    May 15 2024

Welcome to my fourth episode and my first solo episode! In this episode, I talk about supporters in your life. Sometimes all we want is for our family, friends, and acquaintances to support us in our goals but they criticize instead. When talking to someone about your goals and dreams, do they look at you weird and tell you that it'll be impossible? With my new endeavor, this podcast, many people that I have supported in the past haven't shown their support to me. I talk about how that has made me feel and what I am working on to move past it. In this episode, I also discuss wanting to defend my name, especially if I know I haven't done anything wrong. Not everyone has good intentions and there is nothing you can do about what they think about you. I talk about how I am still learning to let go, no matter who the person is.

People will try to knock you down, especially if you are reaching goals they never could. All you need is to believe in yourself and support yourself. Don't give up on those dreams and keep moving

  • Single Motherhood: Am I Enough?
    May 1 2024

Welcome to my third episode! In this episode, my very good friend Rebeca, joins me and we discuss her experiences as a single mother. Rebeca talks about how busy her life is and how today's economy has affected her, leading to her decision to obtain a second job. While she has a strong support system, she sometimes feels lonely as a single mother. We talked about how it is challenging to maintain friendships as an adult and a single mom. Rebeca expressed her struggles with the societal pressure of having a "perfect body image" for women. She also shares a little bit about how it is perfectly okay to be a single mom and be independent.

Being a single mother does not mean you have failed. It means that you are strong and independent and you can overcome anything life throws at you. You are powerful.

  • The Pain of Losing You
    Apr 17 2024

Welcome to my second episode! In this episode, my sister Erika joins me and we discuss our personal experience with COVID-19 and the challenges that came with it. We talk about being quarantined for weeks, away from our families, and how much we lost during that time. With knots in our throats, we open up about losing our grandmother and two of our aunts due to COVID-19. Erika talks about her struggle with anxiety and how bottling up your emotions just causes more damage. We discuss how much they meant to us and how we will always miss and love them for the rest of our lives, but we must continue to live our lives in honor of them.

Losing loved ones can be very difficult and the journey through grief can be unpredictable and full of ups and downs. It's important to allow yourself to feel your emotions so you can continue living the life your loved ones would want for you. You are not alone.

  • My Life, My Choice
    Apr 3 2024

Welcome to my very first episode! In this episode, my very good friend Noemi joins me and shares some of her experiences as a Latina. She describes how she felt when others didn't think she belonged because of the color of her skin. Noemi also dives into her journey through her late teens and 20s and how she overcame every obstacle that came between her and a college education. We talk about the battles that Latina women face in their careers and how difficult it is to prove that we are capable. Noemi shares how the decision to become a mother weighs heavy on her mind and how childbirth can be scary.

This is your life and you decide what to do with it! Don't let other people dictate your decisions. You are powerful and you are worthy.
