  • Body Type Hype Podcast Episode 5 - What is The Scientific Definition of Skinny Fat?
    Sep 16 2022

Body Type Hype Podcast Episode #5 - Host and Fellow One Research lead scientific researcher Marc Nelson (Gen X) and fitness trainer and nutritionist co-host Turbo Ryer (Gen Z) discuss Skinny Fat and how it is scientifically (and medically) defined. Skinny fat is defined as having an unusual amount of diverse kinds of fat on your body which can include cellulite, thin fat, saggy skin, loose skin, crepey skin, and/or normal weight obesity. Normal weight obesity is defined as having too much fat (kinds of skinny fat) on your body when within your safe Body Mass Index (BMI) weight range. Obesity, which is a disease, is defined as having too much fat on your body taking you outside your safe BMI weight range into your overweight or obese BMI columns.

According to mainstream science and medical doctors, every human being is born in a Standard Scientific Human Body Anatomy Book Body Type One (BT1), which is the scientifically accepted Body Type Standard #1 (BMI is Standard #2, BMR is Standard #3). Once you are within your safe BMI weight range, you are a BT1. Yet, for countless people around the world, once they are within their safe BMI weight range they do not look like the Standard BT1 and instead deal with some form(s) of skinny fat. Skinny fat and normal weight obesity are newer terms that have only been around for the last decade or so and still have not been fully accepted by mainstream science and medical doctors. When you go and see your doctor, there is no official way to diagnose skinny fat, in general.

Moreover, there is no way to get rid of skinny fat at present, let alone an FDA-approved way. Many fitness trainers and the like falsely claim that doing resistance exercises like weightlifting will help you get rid of skinny fat, which simply is not true. More to the point, if you are under 40 years old, especially under 30, and you are within your safe BMI weight range, why should you have to do any resistance exercise when according to mainstream science and medical doctors once you are within your safe BMI weight range you already are a BT1 with all muscles/muscle mass fully developed?

Where is the muscle? Why do you have skinny fat in place of where there should be muscles/muscle mass? Genetics! Diet, exercise, metabolism, and lifestyle also play a role in things.

  • Body Type Hype Podcast Episode 4 - Celebrity Body Types, Genetics, & The Four Body Types
    Aug 4 2022

Body Type Hype Podcast Episode #4 - Host and Fellow One Research lead scientific researcher Marc Nelson (Gen X) and fitness trainer and nutritionist co-host Turbo Ryer (Gen Z) discuss Celebrity Body Types and genetics relative to The Four Body Types. It is true that some celebrities have a tendency to use plastic surgery, liposuction, butt lifts, and other such procedures to enhance their appearance. But not all.

Rebel Wilson recently lost 80+ pounds. Yet, she is likely still a Body Type Three (BT3) as the skinny fat (cellulite, thin fat, loose skin, saggy skin, and normal weight obesity) remains readily evident on her legs and stomach, no less, even after losing all that weight. According to mainstream scientists and medical doctors, every human being is a Standard Scientific Human Body Anatomy Book Body Type One (BT1) with all muscles/muscle mass fully developed once within safe BMI.

The fact is, for countless people in the world like Rebel Wilson, that is simply not true -- they are not a BT1 when within safe BMI. Some people say they just lost muscle/mass during the weight loss process. However, there is no scientific evidence that shows when losing weight SAFELY — meaning you are NOT starving the body and denying it the resources it needs to function — that DEFAULT muscle/mass is lost, especially in people under 40. The human body will always first burn calories consumed and stored fat for energy before it uses a very valuable resource like muscle. If you lose muscle/mass during weight loss, you are most likely doing something wrong.

For someone like Rebel Wilson, she simply did not have the muscle/mass to begin with because of her genetics. In place of that muscle/mass is skinny fat, which for her has probably always been there genetically. The more skinny fat you have on your body, the more prone you are to adding fat mass and the harder it likely will be to keep excess fat weight off in the long run. This is due in part to the fact that one pound of muscle mass burns six calories per day but one pound of skinny fat/fat only burns two to three calories, which directly affects metabolism.

There currently is no way to get rid of skinny fat including cellulite. The best you can do is reduce it with proper cardio and weightlifting exercises, diet, and lifestyle choices. There are FDA-approved reduction tools and services, or worst case having surgery. Properly adding muscle to your body will help, but is not easy to do nor maintain in the long run. Moreover, once you stop doing the repetition exercises, you will begin to lose the added muscle/mass and return to your default muscle/mass (as well as skinny fat).

Understanding your real scientific body type using The Four Body Types science (including the Scientific Body Type Quiz and Weight Loss Program Diary) as your guide is the best way to figure out the most effective diet, exercise, and lifestyle routine for your specific body type to truly maintain your health in the short and long term.

  • Body Type Hype Podcast Episode 3 - Scientific Weight Loss Program Diary & Athletic Male and Female Body Types
    Jul 28 2022

Body Type Hype Podcast Episode #3 - Host and Fellow One Research lead scientific researcher Marc Nelson (Gen X) and fitness trainer and nutritionist co-host Turbo Ryer (Gen Z) discuss the Scientific Weight Loss Program Diary (Basic and Advanced) as well as athletic male and female body types. Designed to help you hold yourself accountable by tracking your daily diet, exercise, and lifestyle data along with regular (typically weekly) images, the point of the Scientific Weight Loss Diary is to show your progress. It is used symbiotically with the Scientific Body Type Quiz (required to access the Diary) so you have a solid understanding of your current science-based diet, exercise, metabolism, and lifestyle scores.

Working in harmony with the MyFitnessPal App, CalorieKing App, Apple Health App, or the like, the Diary also allows you to invite your friends, family, fitness trainer, dietician, etc. to join the discussion for free (free subscriber account) to encourage and support your weight loss journey. You can maintain your privacy and security by using a Pen Name and no face is used in images. Advanced users get access to the Expert Science-Based Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle "Ask Gnosis" (think Siri or Alexa) Support Team, and you can buy single credits as well.

The conversation then shifted to talk about athletic male and female body types. As the captain and striker/forward on his competitive recreational soccer team, Turbo estimated that most players in the league were likely a Body Type Two (BT2). At the professional level, be it Major League Soccer (MLS), professional European futbol/football leagues, and such, nearly all players are a Body Type One (BT1), with rare few exceptions being a BT2.

Top-tier professional play requires a thoroughly muscular body that is symmetrical, as that is what the most intense competition demands. Muscle makes an athletic body and is what allows for speed, strength, agility, endurance, etc. along with talent (star power) and presence (IT factor). The more skinny fat and fat you have on your body, the less athletic you are. Genetics plays a huge role in things.
