  • BSVCCL Presents: Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface Episode 4 - Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1995)... "If Looks Could Kill, He Wouldn't Need A Chainsaw"
    Oct 25 2025

Welcome to episode 4 of Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface, where your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz explore the films of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

After the release both the box-office and ciritical failure of the 1990 third entry Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, no one knew what was going to happen next for the franchise. However in 1994, original TCM co-writer Kim Henkel got the rights to the franchise and decided to independently write/direct a fouth instalment. The resulting film was the 1995 film The Return Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Unfortunately, the flopped when it was released in cinemas. Two years later after its two stars Renee Zellweger & Matthew McConaughey became huge stars, Columbia TriStar Pictures picked up the distrubution rights of the film and re-cut/re-released it in 1997 as Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.

Joining the hosts Bede & Steve to discuss this incredibly divisive fouth film in the series are first-time guests film critic Matt Konopka (KillerHorrorCritic.com) and filmmaker Douglas A. Plomitallo (Jason Xmas, Halloween Candy). Highlights of this episode include Matt & Doug explaining the first TCM film they both saw, Bede & Steve trying to figure out what Kim Henkel was going for, debating if the film is a parody/subversive critique on the franchise, Matthew McConaughey's batshit insane performance, Doug explaining the illuminati elements of the story and so much more.

  • Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake Episode 12.5 - Sweet Revenge (2025)... "Some Campers Never Learn"
    Oct 12 2025
Welcome to episode 12.5 of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake.Yep, you read that correctly. This is episode 12.5. Don't worry, your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz have a good reason for that. Aftet the release of the 2009 reboot of Friday The 13th, another entry in the series was in development for a few years. However, before the film was made, an lawsuit happened between the 1980 original film's director Sean Cunningham and writer Victor Miller that sent the franchise in dormant for many years until the rights situation was settled in 2021. Not long after that, Miller teamed up with a few producers to star a new company called Jason Un1ve3rse, which would help restart the franchise across of forms of media. First up, the company decided to reintroduce Jason Voorhees to the world again by making a short film called Sweet Revenge, which was written & directed by Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn '21, Silent Night Deadly Night '25) and sponsored by the cider company Angry Orchard. Since it's not a feature-length film or TV show, your hosts decided to call this episode 12.5.Joining your hosts to discuss this stand-alone short F13 entry are returning guest filmmaker Adrien Castro & first-time guest for the show Doug Tilley (Cinema Smorgasbord, No-Budget Nightmares). • BSVCCL Presents: Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface Bonus Episode - Chain Reactions (2024)
    Oct 4 2025

Welcome to this bonus episode of Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface.

Now having been covering The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series in the past three main episodes of the show, your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz thought it was time to do a bonus episode and dive into something TCM related outside of the films. Recently, Bede & Steve both was a documentary at the 2025 Melbourne International Film Festival back in August that they thought would be a good one to begin with.

For this first bonus one, your hosts take a look at the 2024 TCM themed documentary Chain Reactions from acclaimed director Alexandre O. Philippe (Lynch/Oz, Memory: The Origins of Alien), which was released in honour of the original film's 50th anniversary. Not only that, it features from comedian Patton Oswalt, filmmaker Takashi Miike, film critic Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, author Stephen King and filmmaker Karyn Kusama. What did Bede & Steve think of the documentary? Listen to find out!

  • BSVCCL Presents: Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface Episode 3 - Leatherface The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990)... "The Terror Begins The Second It Starts"
    Aug 5 2025

Welcome to episode 3 of Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface, where your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz explore the films of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

After Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was released in 1986 to both a mixed reception and poor box office, The Cannon Group decided to sell the rights to the series. Now that their A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise was wrapping up, New Line Cinema picked up the rights in hopes of making TCM the studio's next big horror franchise. Unfortunately, the resulting film suffered from behind-the-scenes troubles, recut to ribbons and faired even worse critically/commercially: the 1990 sequel Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III from director Jeff Burr (From A Whisper To A Scream, The Stepfather II) and writer David J. Schow (Critters 3 & 4, The Crow '94)

Joining the hosts Bede & Steve to discuss this third entry in the franchise are first-time guests critic/podcaster Lindsay WiIkins (Schlock & Awe) and playwright/co-owner of The Knack Theatre Lourdes Zamanillo, who is also Steve's wife. Highlights of this episode include wondering how this film fits in the timeline after Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, does this say anything thematically?, praising Ken Foree's performance in the film, figuring out how the Sawyer family is related to the previous families, how star William Butler links all the podcasts on the Bede Vs. The Living Dead network and so much more.

    Aug 5 2025

Welcome to the first episode of Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface, where your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz explore the films of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

After announcing it at the bonus wrap-up episode of their other podcast Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake, your hosts Bede and Steve had decided to take on another horror franchise after tackling the Friday The 13th series, which happens to be biggest of heavy hitters: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Your hosts are very excitied to dive into this franchise and the best place to start off with, is the original 1974 version of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre from co-writer/producer/director Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist, Salem's Lot '79).

Since it's release in 1974, the film has been considered as one of the greatest nadm ost influential horror films ever made (even in some cases, was voted as the number 1 horror films of all time in some major polls). This year, the film celebrates its 50th anniversary. So, it's only fitting that Bede & Steve dive into this momentous film with its impact and legacy on cinema.

Highlights in this episode include Bede & Steven discussing how they were introduced to the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Bede's one main issue with the title, the historical and social context of when the film was released, Tobe Hooper's inspirations for the film, wondering if Marilyn Burns gives the best "frightened" performance in all of cinema, does Franklin deserve his hate or is he mistunderstood?, the film's pop culture legacy and so much more. • Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake Bonus Episode - Unproduced Friday The 13th Reboot Scripts [The Full Version]
    Jun 13 2025

Welcome to this bonus episode of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake. Where your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz explore the classic slasher franchise Friday The 13th, along with its rip-offs, fan films, unproduced scripts, TV shows, comic books and so much more.

NOTE: This is our full complete version of our two-part episodes that combines them both together as one.

After the release of the 2009 reboot of Friday The 13th, there were plans to make a sequel to it. Unfortunately, it didn't come to fruition. Paramount/Warner Bros. along with Platinum Dunes decided to reboot the franchise again with a new film. Two scripts were written: one from Nick Antosca (co-writer of Antlers and creator of TV show Channel Zero) and the other from Aaron Guzikowski (writer of Prisoners and creator of TV show Raised By Wolves). Once again due to many factors, neither script was made into a film.

Your hosts Bede & Steve decided to check out both scripts and wonder what could have been. Joining your hosts to discuss them, is returning guest and filmmaker Douglas A. Plomitallo, the writer/director of Halloween Candy and the F13 fan film Jason Xmas. So, what did Bede, Steve & Doug think of the scripts? Listen to find out!
