On tonight's episode we take a look at INFLUENCE.

When we think of influence, we tend to link it to huge social media influences, or maybe motivational speakers, pro athletes. People in the spot light.

But what if I told you we all have a circle of influence and the size of that circle is irrelevant. It's what we choose to do with it that matters.

As men we seldom think of how much influence we really do have in our daily lives. It could be on our jobs, at the courts shooting hoops with our friends, school etc. We seldom think about how many people look at our lives as the example. Especially in our families.

Just because our circle of people may be small, we need to realize that someone in that circle looks to us for the answers. It's our job to realize this and take the necessary steps to be a person of influence that influences others the right way.

Never think no one is watching you, because they are and you never know just how your actions may impact their lives and decisions they choose to make. We need to be intent with our actions and decisions as men and be willing to live out those actions with the hopes that it betters someone's life, not make it worse.

This being the last in the series, I want you to think back on every lesson and episode and just how much they all really do go hand it hand. It's hard to put one of these principals into practice without putting all of them to work. We hope you all have enjoyed our perspective and have taken steps to become better men.

Episode 48

On tonight's episode we take a look at "COMPASSION"

As men this is something we all struggle with. We struggle because we see it as a sign of weakness. From childhood, most of us men are taught to be strong! To not show weakness, hold your emotions, don't cry etc.

But honestly, that's only part of what we should do. I do agree as men we should know when and how to show emotion. That we shouldn't be ruled by it, But when we hold it all in, it often times creates a monster inside of us, that if ever unleashed, is hard to gain control of again.

For years, as a believer and a non believer, I struggled to show compassion for certain types of people, Addicts, the homeless etc. My thought process is they chose that life, so they need to choose to change.

They do need to choose top change, but rarely do these people choose this situation. Often times it sneaks up on them and before they know it, it is out of control.

It wasn't until I found myself in a season of life where I was depressed, lonely and wanted nothing to do with God, church etc. that I began to see just how people end up in these types of situations. I went through a very hurtful situation. While now I see that it was as much my fault as others, at the time I couldn't see anything but how I was wronged.

In that time so many people showed me compassion. It made me look at myself and see just how un compassionate I had been for so long. When I looked at my situation I understood that only I could choose to change and allow God to help me, but I had so many people there willing to help me get better. What if we did that with everyone? How much sooner would people come out for these terrible life situations and move on with being productive with their lives?

Jesus understood this. He had compassion for so many. He took the time to love people and share hope with each of them. We need to learn to do the same. I'm not saying let people take advantage of us. We need to hold them accountable, but we can do so with the love and heart of Christ.Hope you enjoy this episode.

Episode 46:

On tonight's episode we take a look at COMMITMENT. What is COMMITMENT and how do we apply it to our lives? As men, we all have commitments.

Whether it be God/Jesus, our wives, families, Church, our jobs, or bills, we are all committed something. But often times, in all we commit to, we get over loaded, stressed out and we don't know what should come first.

For me, that's an easy one. It's God/Jesus, my wife & kids then everything else, right???? Wrong!!!!!!!

For me I often find myself worrying about all the commitments I have and not putting the things that matter first.

We look at the stresses of life and think, man I got to pay this bill before anything else gets done, before I pay my tithes. I need to play with my kids before I speak to my wife. I need to spend time with our wife before I spend time with God/Jesus, praying and reading our bibles etc., you get where I'm going!.

You may say guys, I don't serve Jesus.... well that's a decision you ultimately have to make, but even if that's the case, you still have a list of commitments & while we think the first commitment should always be your relationship with the creator of all things, we tend to over commit, or put other commitments before what's really important & everything gets out of balance.

As men we need to prioritize and look deep into our lives and decide what should go first, second and so forth. In this teaching we hop to help you explore just what that is and help you understand commitment and how to put these things in order of importance.

On tonight's episode we take a look at PASSION. What is true passion and how do we prioritize it correctly.

As men, we have many passions in life. It may be sports, hunting, fishing, cars or families. But how do we prioritize these passions.

Do we put what is fun to us over our families, church or our relationship with Jesus?

It's perfectly fine to be passionate about the things that bring us joy. But when it takes precedence over our loved ones & or relationship with Christ, we can find ourselves spiraling out of control and not in control of what matters and not being able to figure how to fix things.

It comes down to prioritizing things and doing each thing with passion in the correct order. God, family, work.... everything else.

Episode 42

On tonight's episode we take a look at SURRENDER.

What is surrender & how do we find it. As men we are taught from a young age to never surrender. No retreat, no surrender, right?

Whether it be in sports and competition or standing up for ourselves, we are taught to never give up. But sometimes in life, surrendering can be very beneficial.

Especially in our walk with Christ. We can't grow in him if we hold on to things that keep us from getting closer to him. Maybe its our attitude or actions. Maybe it’s a relationship that we know is bad for us or sins that we keep secret. The goal is to surrender all we have to him and give ourselves completely over to his will.

We even need to look at this in our marriages. Surrendering ourselves to our spouses can be very beneficial in our growth as a couple and as individuals. I'm not saying we as men aren't the leaders of our homes, but we need to be able to surrender in a way that brings compromise and communication when building our relationships & families.

How do we as men surrender to Christ or even our wives without being weak? In this episode we hope to explain just that.

LESSON 3:

On tonight's episode we take a look at purpose. What is purpose & how do we find it

We often get caught up in "What is my calling" or "What is God's plan for me"? But, so many times in our lives, we wonder around trying to fulfill something that isn't just as simple as being one thing.

I get Michael Jordan is the "GOAT" when it comes to basketball... Sorry to all the LeBron fans out there, but both men are so much more than just great basketball players. Jordan was also a baseball player at one time. But still, he's more than an athlete. He is also a business man. A father, son, husband & a friend.

We think our purpose has to lie in what it is that we do, but our purpose lies in all that we do. We go off on this grand search of what we are supposed to do or what God's will for our lives are and we miss the true calling... to be who he created!

We find our purpose in our callings. Whatever that may be. Our calling doesn't have to fit into a box, right? Because when God calls us, it isn't necessarily to one thing other than to love Him and His people.

I think we mix up our purpose with what we specialize in. For instance, I know God called me to preach, but I am particularly gifted with speaking & relating to young people. But that's not to say, that I can only minister you teens & young adults. I am gifted there, but my purpose is in Him. My purpose it so share Jesus with everyone,.

Don't get wrapped up or confused in this journey and never start reaching out to others, because you think God has to tell you a specific area to work. Just start doing it. That is your purpose. To be his hands, & feet. To be a mouth piece & to show others Jesus.
