    Nov 20 2024

    Send us a text

Women can expect to live five years longer than men. How are you going to make the best of it? Longevity. The concept itself has been around for a very long time - gaining traction as a "buzzword" in recent decades. It has now evolved into a lifestyle movement. Our guest on today's episode of the Ageless Glamour Girls Podcast, a longevity expert is all over that and has been so for a long time. And Maddy Dychtwald has put all of her knowledge into a phenomenal new book - a national bestseller: "Ageless Aging: A Woman’s Guide to Increasing Healthspan, Brainspan, and Lifespan."

“Empower women to see that their best days aren’t behind them—they’re just beginning.” That’s the mission of today’s guest on a bonus episode of the Ageless Glamour Girls Podcast.

In the U S., widowhood impacts a significant portion of women, especially among those aged 65 and older, leading to emotional, financial, and physical challenges. Support systems – including social connections and therapy, become even more crucial.

Today's guest helps widows and retiring women embrace their new lives. She is Dr. Pamela Jackson-Smith, a Certified Life Purpose Coach – Dr. Pam, as she is called, is the Founder and Owner of Jacksmith Coaching and Consulting. Despite the loss of both her husband and several loved ones within a short period, suffering a brain injury, and undergoing open heart surgery - all while working to find herself again, Dr. Pam came out on the other side unscathed - a steadfast symbol of resilience for women searching for purpose later in life.

Hear her inspirational story. And meet her virtually Monday evening (tonight) when she presents a free virtual seminar: “A Holiday Heart-To-Heart with Dr. Pam,” where she teaches – among other items, how you can honor your feelings and find moments of comfort and peace.

The holidays can be especially tough for widows and others, and it’s smart to have some guidance to help you manage and move through the holidays and beyond, with a bit more ease, finding hope and connection along the way.

  • Childhood Trauma & Sexual Abuse: Moving Through It One Note at a Time: Ageless Author Kyeni Matee: “The Eyes Behind The Violin: Finding My Identity” ENCORE Episode
    Oct 30 2024

    Send us a text

Often the trials and tribulations of life drive us to pivot. That said, we decided to re-purpose a past episode, in light of the flurry of recent stories about child exploitation, abuse, and trafficking in the news. Sobering. From the accusations against P. Diddy, the former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, to the sexual abuse scandal and settlement involving the Archdiocese of LA, and now a new lawsuit against WWE’s Vince and Linda McMahon, and so many other horrific stories scattered throughout communities near and far - ENUF! 😔
Statistics find that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse. Experts say those numbers are much higher, but the prevalence is hard to determine because it’s not often reported. The most vulnerable are between the ages of 7 and 13.

Our guest -Kyeni (pronounced Chain-ee), a violinist and youth orchestra teacher from Florida is one of those statistics. She’s also a new author. Kyeni documents her abuse which started when she was 7 or 8 and lasted for several traumatizing years, in her book – “THE EYES BEHIND THE VIOLIN: FINDING MY TRUE IDENTITY.” Her moving story is one of survival and resilience. Her saving grace? Music, Therapy, and Faith.

Kyeni and other innocent victims had their childhoods stolen, and the scars will follow them for the rest of their lives. It’s beyond time for abusers—men and others—to be held accountable. We can’t stay silent about this anymore. If you see something, please say something. And teach our children to know when something's not right. Protect them.

BIO: Kyeni Matee (Rechel Bryant Nganga) has a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She has been teaching with Osceola County Schools in Florida, for 25 years. She currently works as an Itinerant String teacher. Outside of school, she's the Orchestral Director of the Osceola Arts Youth Orchestra. She also runs a private music studio. Kyeni is an active professional musician and enjoys performing on her violin, playing the piano, and singing at churches and venues across Central Florida. Rechel is married to Chuma Nganga Matee, from Kenya in East Africa. Rechel visited Kenya for the first time in 2010, and began a project: “The Parkway Kawelu Project.” It's allowed her to work with her students here in the U.S. and join Kawelu Primary School in Kenya. The schools worked together to raise money and help Kawelu, an underserved school in Kenya, refurbish its facility. That program continues today but has gone through a metamorphosis. Rechel travels to Kenya every few years and takes community members, or students from her Youth Orchestra, to service projects like planting trees and performing at various schools. Her book is available at bookstores and on Amazon.

  • The "Vagina Whisperer" - Is It Time To Go? | Urinary Incontinence 101
    Oct 16 2024

    Send us a text

A super important topic on the Menu today! We're talking Urinary Incontinence. Approximately 30-50% of women over the age of 50 experience some form of urinary incontinence, a condition that tends to become more prevalent with age. Our guest, Dr. Briana Walton, aka - the "Vagina Whisperer" brings the facts on this condition. This podcast provides crucial information and can help all, whether you are experiencing this or someone you know - your mother, grandmother, favorite auntie, or whomever. Do kegels still help at our age? And did you know that there are apps to help you locate the nearest bathrooms on-the-go? 'So glad you're here!

    *************
BIO: Briana Walton MD. I have been a specialist in Female Medicine and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery for nearly 20 years.

One thing I have learned, being on the giving and receiving end of medicine, is that we are continually changing. I chose this specialty because I enjoyed the spectrum of care provided over a woman’s life time. And as I have seen my patients change and have changed myself, it has given me an appreciation for the mind, heart, and soul of a woman. As life evolves; having a baby, going through a divorce or surviving menopause, we begin to make choices about our care and appearance that we would never have considered in the past. Some of these choices are emotional and based on fear or concern about our medical health. However, many decisions we make are due to the natural phenomena that occur in a woman’s body. These events push us to consider creating a new version of ourselves to address our intimate wellness. I would be happy and honored to help you ask critical questions, and begin to explore areas where you may not have had the courage to speak up. I have learned that women are hard on themselves and don’t take time to take care of ourselves because we are always caring for others. I want to give women an opportunity to address their needs and their desires. At the Center for Feminine Wellness and Surgery, we will take the time to discover what’s right for you and how to move forward in your renewal process. It’s time for you to take the best care of YOU!
