  • All About...Baseball, History, and Umpiring with Natola Hawthorne
    Sep 24 2025

You cannot talk baseball and softball without discussing the role and significance of the umpire. This week, I got the opportunity to talk to the first woman to umpire a Division 1 baseball game. That woman is THE Natola Hawthorne. She is not just significant from a historical standpoint, but she gives excellent information on the role of the umpire in a way that you may have never considered along with how it all came to be. This episode was historical, moving, and an important point for all of us to see the significance of women in this space AND how we can all benefit from learning, promoting, and being in the moment of the evolution and acceptance of Women in Sports. ENJOY!
