  • #E62 | 40 Years, 10 Principles, One IN10TIONAL Life
    Apr 13 2026
Today’s episode is personal. Very personal.I turn 40 on the 14th of April. And I want to tell you what I actually built. Not the link in bio version, the real version.Fair warning: writing the blog that goes with this episode was the longest anything has ever taken me. I did not expect the influx of emotion, memories, trauma, and celebration those words would carry. So this episode is the same. Raw. Straight from the heart. And for the record, my version of celebrating a birthday is a good South African braai with friends, a Cadbury slab, and a strong coffee. So we are doing this properly.Oh — and tonight, on my actual birthday, I am not at a party. I am running the IN10TEEN programme. Moms and their daughters. Because the best thing you can do with what you have built is give it to the next generation while you still can. That is not sacrifice. That is the whole point.SEGMENT 1: THE ORDER MATTERSBefore I tell you what I built, I need to tell you how I define success. Because if we are not working from the same definition, the rest of this conversation will not make sense. The world defines success by what is visible. Revenue. Title. Followers. A PhD — which, yes, I now have, and I worked hard for it; but even that is not the thing. Here is my definition:A living relationship with God. A healthy marriage. Children who are whole and loved. Relationships chosen with rigour. A business that does not just serve clients, it develops them. That is success. Everything else is fruit. And the order matters. Most people build the career first and hope the rest follows. I built soul first, then family, then relationships, then business. I will be honest — I had a do-over in getting that sequence right. But I got there. And that sequence is the reason I can stand at 40 with no regrets. Not a perfect life. An IN10TIONAL one.SEGMENT 2: THE SIX GOALSBefore this milestone, I had six things I wanted to have built. Here is the honest report.Goal 1: A happy marriage. Still choosing it every day. Marriage is a discipline, not a destination. And every day we are both right — well, if you know me, I actually like to be wrong, because then I learn. So let’s say he is right more often. It works for us.Goal 2: Great kids. Healthy. Loved. Grounded. Goal reached. I never thought I would have so many — but I am so happy. They colour in my world.Goal 3: A healthy body. This one cost me the most. Health has been a genuine struggle not a checkbox, not a season, a real ongoing fight. I am more IN10TIONAL about my body today than I have ever been. I want to say a specific thank you here to Claire Julsing Strydom and Dr. Mary Atkinson for taking my hand and walking me through this journey of becoming strong. You do not always do it alone, and you should not have to.Goal 4: Write a book. I’m at book three. The principles kept producing more than one book could hold.Goal 5: Build a business that builds other businesses. Seventeen years. Three companies. Clients who have grown because of what we built together. I used to call myself a serial entrepreneur, it felt good, I enjoyed the chase. But through the years I realised depth matters more to me than adding another line to the list. Quality over quantity. Always.Goal 6: Surround myself with IN10TIONAL people. Relationships have always been central to who I am. The people in my circle are deliberate choices. And I protect that circle accordingly.Six goals. Six results. None of it accidental growth.SEGMENT 3: THE 10 IN10TIONAL PRINCIPLES — LIVED, NOT LECTUREDMy book IN10TIONALITY: Ten Ways to Live a Rewarding and IN10TIONAL Life is built on ten principles. I did not teach them in a classroom and then live differently outside it. I applied them, imperfectly, consistently, across four decades. Here is what each one produced.1. Be IN10TIONAL about your Soul. The birthing place of everything. Every time I was tempted to build for applause instead of purpose, this principle corrected me. I am solid on having an eternal mindset, purpose-driven, not instant-gratification driven. I work in social media. I know the difference between the two. Deeply.2. Be IN10TIONAL about your Relationships. I chose my people carefully. IN10TIONAL friendship is a leadership discipline, not a soft skill. The people around you are either investments or withdrawals. Choose accordingly.3. Be IN10TIONAL about your Community. I did not build in isolation. A business that builds other businesses. A coaching community. A platform. A peer advisory network. I say this all the time, community is the currency of the future. Why not become part of one that is actually building something?4. Be IN10TIONAL about your Happiness. This one surprised people when I wrote it. But happiness is a decision you make before circumstances cooperate. I decided what would fill my life, a braai with people I love, a good coffee, meaningful work, my faith, and I built my life around those things. Not the other way around.5. Be ...

  • #E061 If One Bad Client Can Break Your Business, You Don’t Have a Business —> You Have a Funnel.
    Feb 3 2026

Let’s get real: too many businesses are built like glass. One drop of ink, one bad review, one unhappy client, one failed promise, and the entire thing is stained.

If your entire reputation can be shattered by a single customer experience, what you’ve built isn’t sustainable.

    It is fragile.

    That’s not a business.

    That’s a funnel.

Funnels are linear. Transactional. Self-serving. They’re obsessed with conversions and clicks, not connection or continuity. Once the “lead” drops out the bottom, the system resets. It’s cold. It’s clinical. And worst of all, it’s brittle. A funnel doesn’t account for the reputation cost of poor service, nor the long-term trust capital of one raving fan.

But nature doesn’t move in lines. It moves in loops.

That’s why I build using the flywheel. A circular rhythm. A system designed around the customer, not the company. One that gains momentum over time and doesn’t collapse if something goes wrong, it simply slows down and self-corrects.

In today’s episode of the podcast, I unpack why circular growth systems outperform linear funnels in the real world. I explain why your business reputation is not built in campaigns, it’s built in cycles. And how, when you’re intentional about rhythm, relationship, and reputation, you build something that doesn’t break every time life does.

This isn’t theory. It’s the system I use across every business in the JDC Group of companies. From marketing to consulting to product delivery, everything flows through one central ecosystem: Customer First. Strategy Second. Systems Always.

Here’s what I unpack in this episode:

    * Why the sales funnel is ego-centric, and the flywheel is ecosystem-centric

    * What I learned from adding one drop of ink to a full glass of water, and how that visual changed the way I build trust

    * How to recover from mistakes without losing momentum

    * Why momentum makes you look better than you are (and how to earn that advantage ethically)

    * A reputation-first checklist for building a business that doesn’t bleed

You’ll also hear my personal blueprint. From company structure to pricing strategy, marketing rhythms to client retention. Designed to protect the brand, not just push product.

It’s mechanics. It’s not just systems. It’s sustainability. It’s the Delta Code in motion, and I’m here to walk you through it, one intentional step at a time.

  • Understanding Teen Isolation. When Your Daughter Starts to Pull Away (Part 2)
    Jan 9 2026

Teen isolation is one of the most misunderstood challenges in motherhood. In this episode, Janine and Letitia explore why girls withdraw emotionally, what’s happening beneath the silence, and how moms can gently reconnect without overwhelming their daughters.

A heartfelt conversation filled with insight, empathy, and practical encouragement, perfect for any mom raising a teen girl who feels “far away” even when she’s right in front of you.A podcast conversation with Janine & Letitia

There is a particular kind of loneliness mothers feel, the kind that arrives quietly when your daughter, the girl who once told you everything, begins to retreat into herself.

Sometimes it’s subtle.A shorter answer.A closed door.A smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes.

And sometimes it’s a moment that catches you off guard, the realisation that she is surrounded by people, yet somehow more alone than she’s ever been.

This episode was born out of that moment.

Letitia and I sit down to talk about what’s happening underneath teenage isolation, not the behaviour, but the heart behind it.Because isolation is rarely about attitude. It’s almost always about overwhelm.

We explore why girls withdraw even when they’re loved deeply and supported well. Why “I’m fine” can be a shield, not a truth. Why she may struggle to explain what she’s feeling, even to you, especially to you.

And we talk about the unspoken fear many moms carry:“If she’s pulling away from me, am I losing her?”

You’re not. You’re meeting her in a transition she doesn’t yet know how to manage.

Throughout the episode, we gently unpack the hidden pressures teens are carrying, the comparison, the sensory overload, the rapid-fire friendship shifts, the shame that silences them, the fear of disappointing you, and the digital world that keeps them connected while somehow making them feel lonelier than ever.

But this conversation isn’t just about understanding isolation. It’s about reconnection.

We share the small, almost unremarkable ways moms can help their daughters step out of emotional hiding:

    * Ways to soften the space between you.

    * Ways to speak safety into her nervous system.

    * Ways to create moments where she doesn’t need to perform, pretend, or protect herself.

In the episode, you’ll hear us talk about how presence becomes a lifeline, why tone matters more than timing, and the surprising rituals that rebuild trust.

This is a compassionate, grounding conversation.A reminder that isolation is not rejection, it’s a coping mechanism. And that your daughter isn’t pulling away from you…she’s trying to find herself.

If your teen has been quieter lately or harder to reach, this episode will feel like someone finally naming the thing you’ve sensed but couldn’t articulate.

    It’s tender.It’s honest.It’s hopeful.And it’s yours.

If this episode spoke to you, imagine what a guided journey with your daughter could unlock.

The IN10TEEN Program begins March 2026. A four-week experience designed to strengthen identity, emotional resilience, communication, and connection between moms and teen girls.

We keep the room small on purpose.Just 10 moms.Just 10 daughters.A safe space to grow together.

If your heart knows this season matters, you’re invited to join us.
