New take on zombie lore

In the world of the "Zombie Extinction Event", zombies are not the expected shamblers we've come to know and fear from Romero's imagery. These biters are fast, but they don't spread the virus via bites. Now for the bad news: they're all kids. Every last one of these zombies are prepubescent, and some are even critters that ate their way out of their mothers!!!

Anyways, our hero is describing life one year post Dustfall, where there are very small pockets of humanity remaining. The Narwhals (our plucky band of adventurers) find a critical discovery that brings hope for a cure, leading them to search deep within the long-abandoned hospital. The book leaves off with a cliffhanger that may or may not spell doom for the remainder of humanity.

Short but Packs a Punch!

I love short form horror, it's just so satisfying to be able to consume an entire book in one sitting and "Zombie Extinction Event Novel #1: Suffer the Little Children" is a perfect example of this. It went by quickly and made me hungry (ha!) for the next one in the series. To me, children are already creepy. Zombie children are... absolutely horrifying. It was great! Thomas Stone does a nice job of narrating this tale.

Fantastic

Loved it loved it loved it. I am a big time lover of horror and zombie stories. This short story was unique and done really really well. It was different from other zombie tells as is only the children which have turned into the undead. The suspense, action and thrills are all here in a neat little package with a great conclusion. I'm looking forward to C.S Andersons other works and Thomas Stone was a good narrator. This reminded me of Adrians Undead Diarys a lot and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

short but loved it

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a short but very entertaining zombie book. The narration is great too. I don't want to say much, because it is so short, but suffice it to say, this is worth giving a listen if you want a quick zombie apocalypse story.

Wow! Great new zombie short story!

This is a really great 98 minutes! I so enjoyed everything about this. What a clever new idea for a zombie outbreak. Likeable characters, good development, and plenty of action. The narrator did a great job. I liked his voice a lot. I wish #2 was available now, but hopefully very soon. I received this for free for an honest review.

Good Start

I love Post-Apocalyptic/Horror books and this was no exception only complaint was too short and is very different from author’s other books. Loved the characters of Jake, Joyce, Casandra, Big Al and need to find out what happens with Tina. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Ankle Biter Armageddon

You know how a lot of zombie fiction and media tend to avoid kid zombies for the most parts? Well, C.S Anderson is making up for that underrepresentation. I have a soft spot for post-apocalyptic survival stories, and while 'Suffer The Little Children' isn't flawless, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Overall it's a fairly straight forward zombie story, but with pre-pubescent children being the only ones affected. It makes for a familiar and yet disturbing mix. Anderson does a good job of tweaking some of the usual zombie tropes to give them a fresh edge. Thomas Stone's narration is solid for the most part. I found some his tone to be at odds with the scene from time to time, but nothing serious. One thing to note is that while the preview sample is representative of the narration and story style, the scene recounted isn't actually in the book, which I thought was a bit odd. While I would have liked it to be included, as it seems to recount the beginning of the outbreak, the story works fine without it.

As far as criticisms go, my only real dislike was for the villain, who was over the top in a contrived kind of way. I won't spoil anything, but really the only thing missing from his resume of evil was for him to be a Nazi or a member of ISIS. I found him to be the low spot of the story, with everything before and after being much more engaging.

All in all I enjoyed 'Suffer The Little Children'. It checked all the right boxes for an enjoyable zombie apocalypse story, despite a weak villain. The ending was well done and really has me interested in picking up the next book in the series to see where things go.
