Resumen del Editor

In the year 2050, the United States sends the FBI to govern its space station, the Empyrean. Under the command of suave 80-year-old director Samuel Lord, the Zero G men are in charge of investigating terrorism, crime, corruption, and espionage and of keeping an eye on the rival Chinese and Russian stations.

NASA is conducting a top-secret project in the agricultural center of the US space station Empyrean, using microscopic robots called nanites to construct a vine that can survive in space. The plan is to grow structural material for an elevator that will reach from the Empyrean to Earth. Unfortunately a Russian spy inadvertently causes the growth to rage out of control, threatening not only the Empyrean but also the Russian space station, Red Giant.

Under the guidance of Director Samuel Lord, Zero G must not only identify the spy but help find a way to stop the fast-replicating vine...and a form of space zombie birthed by the nanites. The surprising solution takes Lord and a Russian pilot on a dangerous mission to Venus - where a shocking discovery awaits.

monotone

It was hard to follow since the narration was dull, some parts were interesting but mostly drawn out.

Trekkies, you'll love this!

As an old Trekkie & big fan of Wm. Shatner, I could not help but LOVE this book...as well as the narration! The plot is somewhat Trekkie-ish sci-fi, but much more intelligent & complicated (that's no offence to Star Trek...just a bit different). The hero of the story, the head of Zero G on the space station in this story, makes me think of Shatner himself...the same sense of humor & possibly around the same age, & with the gutsy, assertive, smart-assed, flirty, & brave character of James T. Kirk. The story is fast-paced & action-packed right from the start, & no one could narrate this book & speak for our HERO as well as Shatner himself. I do hope that a Book 2 is forthcoming!

Namaste... Jade Dragon

Great story

Very happy with the story, it was different, and I loved the way that William Shatner read it. I read the book and listened to the audio at the same time, and noticed that some words were occasionally changed or a line left out or added. Shatner's tendency towards doing the unexpected shows through even with reading his own book... Just minor word changes, but spoken as he might say them. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audio.

Good and bad

I've read or listened to a number of Shatner's books am a big fan of Star Trek and have enjoyed the biographies from Shatner. However this story is interesting yet I was unable to get very far into it as the narration was monotone and boring almost put me to sleep. When listening to a good book one of the most important parts is to be able to distinguish between characters here it was all monotone. I would suggest that this book be redone with a narrator that has a vocal range that can bring life to the characters, this would include all future books.

Dont drive while listening

Shatner is so dull in this narration that I had to shut it off. He was making me fall asleep while driving.
