From Sophie McKenzie, bestselling and award-winning author of Girl, Missing and Sister, Missing

On a quiet, gray, Saturday morning, Livy arrives at her best friend Julia's flat for a lunch date only to find her dead. Though all the evidence supports it, Livy cannot accept the official ruling of suicide; the Julia she remembers was loud, inappropriate, joyful, outrageous and loving, not depressed. The suspicious circumstances cause Livy to dig further, and she is suddenly forced to confront a horrifying possibility: that Julia was murdered, by the same man who killed Livy's sister, Kara, eighteen years ago.

Desperate to understand the tragedies of her past and hold her unraveling life together, Livy throws herself into the search for Kara and Julia's killer, who she now believes is someone close to her family. But if that is true, can she still trust anyone? Damien, the man Julia was secretly dating? Leo, her husband's boss and a close family friend? His son Paul, her husband's best mate since college? Or even Will, her own dear husband, who has betrayed her perhaps one time too many?

And when Livy finally faces her sister's killer, and he traps her with one horrible, impossible choice, she must finally decide: is she strong enough to trust herself?

Too long to reach conclusion too many unbelievable stories
But thread of story kept me listening

Too long

This story offered a good diversion in the summer but leaned towards the dramatic a little too often. Still I hung on to learn "who done it" and was almost glad to learn that I was close but not exactly right. I think the author dangled clues and created some decent diversions. A little too contrived but still enjoyable.

A decent puzzle with waves of melodrama

Where does You Can Trust Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

On a scale of one to favorite, with similar books, this is about a 9. Slow to catch on, but worth staying with it.

What did you like best about this story?

I think I liked the main protagonists' character arc. She grows and changes and emboldens as the story thickens and becomes much more likeable and strong by the end of it.

Which scene was your favorite?

The Bus Stop or the Cliff scene. You'll know the ones.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Your friends are close, your enemies are far closer. (?)

Any additional comments?

Loved that I guessed who it was before they revealed it, although I must admit it was very hard in this one (if that's your sort of thing). I don't think I've listened to a novel this suspenseful in a while.

Literally gripping the edge of seats around town

She created an air of suspense

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Any additional comments?

started slow, was a bit preposterous BUT thoroughly entertaining. Never a dull moment for me!

lots of intrigue

While I could provide critique, it would give away spoilers. I’ll simply say I’m glad I listened. It kept my interest.

The narrator reminded me of Claire Foy portraying the Queen of England, so I often pictured that when she read! But, she did a nice job.
