With having to leave the commission for a year while things cool off politically, Mark finds that the church has loaned him out to the FBI, who have been trying for years now to get an experienced monster and demon expert in their newest division, to help train and educate the agents there on just what they will be facing. Finding out that Mark actually is one of those very monsters has made them want him even more - not just for what he can bring to the table but because they do need to check off that newest minority checkbox, even if no one knows they exist.

Mark doesn't mind the new assignment; being closer to home means it will be easier to visit with family, and the agents all seem nice enough. Plus the FBI has a bigger budget and gets a lot nicer toys than Mark is used to. However, while Mark knows how to deal with devils, demons, and even the nastier monsters out there, he doesn't know anything about how to deal with a sociopath werewolf who has gone full psycho and started to murder coeds.

That's more of a human problem, after all.

Excellent!

A wonderful story with interesting characters and a truly diabolical villain. John Van Stry just seems to be able to draw me into his worlds and make me totally invested in the characters and the conflicts in which they are involved. If I start one of his series I have to read them to the end.
Doug Tisdale Jr does a great job in his narration and cast a great scene in my mind. If my mind is any judge this would make a great movie!

Nice to see something other than just Werewolves

I liked this story quite a bit. Mark is a real asset to the FBI as a lycan and its immediately made apparent to the FBI how little they know about any Lycan communities. The gist of this story is a Lycan serial killer is on the loose and has been for quite a while sitting right under everyones noses. It takes one to know one is certainly the case here as a girl escapes from the killer and his house of cards comes falling down. There is a nice twist in the story as to why he is killing these college girls. It was a very enjoyable listen and the narrator did a good job also. I hope the next book in this series gets an audible release as well.

I had no idea what I was getting into with this listen. I took a chance and it paid off. In spades.

First off, there was an otherworldly element to the story line but it was so well-crafted that you did not question for one moment that werewolves and werecougars were real. In essence, the story was a cat and mouse thriller about how the good guys chased down the bad guys. Along the way, you are treated with some humor, a little humanity, a spattering of religion for a story that keeps you listening from start to finish.

The narrator was excellent! There were some challenges since many times multiple people were talking, including priests and well, a really bad guy, but the narrator kept the voices separate and the emotion in check and you rode with him to the inevitable conclusion. Totally worth it!!

Really Good Book

This was just an entertaining, engaging and enjoyable story to listen to. It pulls you in immediately and never lets go. It's not a complicated mystery, just a well written really good solid story. Even though it's a shorter book it doesn't feel like it. The story flows smoothly and evenly and characters are well developed.

The synopsis tell you all you need to know about the story except that it’s worth your time and credit.

Action, suspense, paranormal creatures, a rogue werewolf serial killer, a bit of sarcastic humor and more.

The story is told in a dual POV, between Mark and Craig the serial killer. There are some disturbing descriptions of the torture the serial killer likes to inflict on his victims. He even has a "helper".

Looking forward to the next book in the series. Even though this is book 2 in the series it absolutely can be read as a stand alone. I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not having listened to the series in order. Hopefully Audible will have the rest of the series soon and Doug Tisdale Jr. will be narrating it.

Doug Tisdale Jr. did a great job with the narration. Nice voice. Easy on the ears. Clearly spoken with a smooth pace. His narration just added to the enjoyment of the story. Really good character voices. Perfect tone and delivery. He was able to bring the characters and story to life through his narration. Very enjoyable.

Fantastic story and narrator.

What made the experience of listening to Wolf Killer the most enjoyable?

I received a copy of this audiobook book from the author for an impartial review. The book did not build slowly, but started off with a whirlwind speed that did not let up until the very end.

What other book might you compare Wolf Killer to and why?

I don't have a comparison to other books because the story was unique and the characters very real.

I have not listened to any of Doug Tisdale Jr.'s performances, but will probably do so in the future.

It did not make me laugh or cry but it did make me feel uplifted.

Anxiously awaiting a sequel and will be checking out author's and narrators other books and performances.

True Blood Meets Police Procedural

Where does Wolf Killer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I normally listen to thrillers, police procedurals and horror books but have recently grown bored. The "Wolf Kiiller" appealed to me, being that it had the style of a police procedural yet added something new. (NO SPOILERS) The story is about the hunt for a serial killer but in a world that is simiar to something out of the tv series, TRUE BLOOD.

That being said, I have never listened to a story quite like this one and that was refreshing! It would not be fair to rate this story against books that are nothing like it. I will say that if you like the HBO TV series or Dan Wells novels, you will enjoy this story.

What other book might you compare Wolf Killer to and why?

This story is unique but if I had to compare it to another book series, I would say Dan Wells series featuring John Cleaver. John Cleaver works for a special group in the FBI that hunts monsters.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

All in all, the narrator did not lessen my listening experience, I enjoyed listening to the story.The narrator was professional and kept his voice interesting but there are many characters in this story. The narrator should make each character sound unique to the listener. The narrator did well differentiating the main character and the head of FBI but the other male characters including the serial killer sounded the same. His voice for females needed more variations too. As for the main character and the head of the FBI's voice, he did a great job.

This book was much better than the first book which was garbage. The author put effort into this book amd it shows.
