Chris Williams is looking for the perfect girl, but his choice, Isabella, is anything but what he imagined. In fact, she's walking trouble. New York Times best-selling author R. L. Mathewson brings us this second audiobook of the Pyte/Sentinel series. Listeners are sure to dislike not-so-nice-guy Chris, but they'll love actor Stella Bloom's performance. Through varied pitches and pacing, she gives life to hottie Chris and nerdy Isabella while her narration resounds clear as a bell. Listeners hoping for something a little sexy, a little vampiric, and a lot thrilling will enjoy this wild ride.

Intriguing Worldbuilding • Exciting Action Sequences • Excellent Narration • Unique Paranormal Elements • Soothing Voice

I loved the first book, but this one pissed me off so bad. she takes shit after shit after shit. still forgives. had a shitty af childhood but cries over his sob story despite his emotional abuse. I haven't even reached the end yet somehow I can bet she's not even gonna tell him about her story. fuck this book.

so disappointed

I don't understand some of the reviews because I thought this was a good story. RL Mathewson always finds away to put the right amount of humor in her books. Always a great story line and narrator.

Love it

I loved the 1st book and so when Chris who I adored finally got a chance to find his one & only mate, I couldn’t wait to listen to his story… but right after the 1st chapter (which they let you hear in book 1 if you choose to listen) I found I wanted to wring Chris’s neck! Seriously beat the living day lights out of him! I hated him! And it doesn’t change for the ENTIRE story he is the villain as far as I am concerned! In r/l I doubt any woman would be able to forgive him! If my husband did 15% of the things he says and does I would file for divorce! I seriously wanted to see Lizzy dump him! Get rid of him! Find away w/ her beautiful hacking/computer skills, to disappear from his life forever! And him NEVER know where she went if she was alive or dead! That WOULD HAVE BEEN the perfect ending and her HEA! He didn’t deserve his mate or deserve any more control over her life… and this is my serious review…. This book was NOT a romance…. It was dark romance no real physical violence but chock full of mental and emotional abuse… the kind a girl NEVER comes back from…

Extremely Disappointing…

I have read several books by this author and normally really like them. I had a really hard time with this book. I liked the first book and Chris' character in that book. I can't even with him in this book. I have never wanted to smack a fictional character so much in my life. The heroine in this book has been thoroughly abused mentally. I have almost 2 hours left of this book and I can't take it anymore. I can't see how he could possibly redeem himself and I can't forgive him. I don't see how Izzy ever could either. I am going to imagine that Izzy gets her sentinel strength and gives him the butt whooping of his life. The End! BTW loved the narrator. She is the reason this isn't ranked lower.

Disappointed...

This was book 2 in the "Pyte/Sentinel" Chris Williams is used to making sacrifices. For years he's done his duty by his family and his calling as he awaited the one person that was meant for him. When she finally came into his life, she was nothing like the woman he'd expected. Isabella "Izzy" McGuire is a computer geek who has managed to get herself kidnapped. It took me awhile to warm up to both of these characters. Chris and Izzy are mates, there will never be another for them, it's part of the Sentinal way. However, Izzy isn't quite what Chris wanted or hoped for I wanted to slap Chris he acted like a real jerk. This book had a lot of action in it like the first book. Izzy is weak and does not seem to have any natural fighting skills at all, a total disappointment. But his body is responding to her, and he is finding it difficult to keep his distance. Chris is still cocky, edgy and ruthless. This was a good read I listened to this book on audio, and I am looking forward to listening to the next book.

Good

Chis was not the most likeable main character, but he had a bad past, and an even harder time coming into his own as an unmated sentinel. It was hard for him to be accepting and open to change as he spent most of his adult life being nothing but his family's protector. And Izzy posed a threat to his family.
There was a lot of angst in this story and a lot of animosity between the main characters. This is probably why there are so many negative reviews as it is quite a bit out of the norm to have an unlikable main male character, but that's just the way this guy was. Spoiler alert... it does get better by the end but the ending was a bit stilted.
While this was not my favorite of the series, it was still an intricate part of the series as it laid some foundations in the series.

Chris and Izzy

Chris is an absolute jerk, all through the book. I was hoping this book would get better, that he would learn to stop being such a jerk. However, it was almost the end of the book before he started being okay. i

The first book was good. This one felt rushed, the characters weren’t like able, the plot felt superficial, and focused on the screwed up relationship more than the meta plot. The MC constantly pissed me off with his self-involved bs, and the FC had no backbone. I liked the side characters and even the antagonists better than the two main characters. I’m not sure I want to continue with the series at this point if it’s all going to be this shallow. Don’t know what happened between this book and the first, but I hope the author can get back to whatever place that first book came from.

I almost put this book down so many times
