Resumen del Editor

Inspired by her blockbuster phenomenon, Wonder, R. J. Palacio presents an unforgettable story of the power of kindness and unrelenting courage in a time of war.

In R. J. Palacio's best-selling collection of stories, Auggie & Me, which expands on characters in Wonder, audiences were introduced to Julian's grandmother, Grandmère. Here, Palacio presents Grandmère's heartrending story: how she, a young Jewish girl, was hidden by a family in a Nazi-occupied French village during World War II; how the boy she and her classmates once shunned became her savior and best friend.

Sara's harrowing experience movingly demonstrates the power of kindness to change hearts, build bridges, and even save lives. As Grandmère tells Julian, "It always takes courage to be kind, but in those days, such kindness could cost you everything." With poignant symbolism that brings Sara's story out of the past and cements it firmly in this moment in history, White Bird is sure to captivate anyone who was moved by the book Wonder or the blockbuster movie adaptation and its message.

This full-cast audio adaptation of White Bird transforms the graphic novel into a truly original audio performance.

Beautiful and quality performance.

You can sometimes feel as if you were robbed of hours by a horrible story; however, this will not disappoint. The performance is well done and easy to listen to.
The story is deep, compelling, and interesting.
I believe this is not just for the young adult but also for adults.
Given the subject matter it is for children who are mature and can comprehend subject matters appropriately. I would recommend a child who is 12+
It's not inappropriate, it is the subject matter that a young child could not fully appreciate. It may be helpful to front load a child so that they may have an understanding of history of WWII.

Moving story, amazing narration

Beautifully written story about the Holocaust in France. I was startled the sadness in the story given it is a children’s book, but then again this is the Holocaust. Horrific crimes and tragedies occurred. This was my child’s first exposure to this side of our global history. I felt it was written in a way that children could process the depth of horror. The characters were relate-able to a child, which helped them to understand what happened on their level. A must read for the 8-10 year old as well as their parents.

This is a heartwarming and heartbreaking book

I loved this book, I think it is a good story for mature 12 year olds to any older age. It has a great important story, even though it’s fiction. This book is truly a way to make sure we never forget what happened.

Every child should read/listen.

As a teacher, I recommend this book for all young adults. Awareness is everything and this story teaches a lot of history and also carries the message that we should share a light with one another and that being a bystander to injustice is not okay. I enjoyed every second!

WW II Story for All Ages

The story of WW II is not told enough or taught to our children. To ignore the past is to repeat our mistakes. Look at Syria, Mexico, and Ukraine. Refugees are all over the world. Prejudice still reigns. After some introduction to WW II, Hitler, the persecution and loss of life, this story is a way to tell children how the Jews lived in fear without telling the horrible evil and actions against them. Thanks to the author!

Wonderfully sad

This story should be read/heard by everyone, young and old.
It’s wonderfully sad in all the right ways, pulling at our heartstrings, and reminding us not to be passive when we see evil around us.
Although fictional, the story was historically accurate and made appropriate, albeit difficult but important for young people to become aware of it.
I love the touch of art that was brought in, as a coping mechanism as well as a way to express love and gratitude.
The performances were spot on and further took us deep into the story.
