I can’t handle the narrator’s voice

I seriously don’t know if I can’t finish this. The sample wasn’t long enough for me to fully grasp this.

really liked the book and the narrator, but the incessant music playing the entire time drove me crazy! Very distracting...

Narration OK, background annoying

I am at a loss to understand why they felt the need to add music to the background. So distracting and annoying!

What a fun refreshing story! Listening to it was a pure joy! The narrator did amazing as well... liked the music in there background.

What a great sardonic glimpse into family life. Well written and funny. A little heavy on the cursing for my liking but other than that a great read.

Is That… Liz? Luke’s Liz?

I was so pumped to hear who I know as Liz from Gilmore Girls narrating this book Her unique voice(s) gave the audiobook something special.


All in all, I loved this book - and I haven’t been to is excited about reading in years. So many laugh out loud moments.

I loved this!!!

I listen to a ton of audio books. I love that they chose to add music to this. I wish more audio books had music! It’s immersive! It did take me a little while to get used to the narrative voice, but it grew on me. Probably because the story itself was so good. This is hands down my new favorite audio book!

Overall impression muddled by music and narration

The overall story is unusual due to the way it’s told. Not that great and lacking depth based on my opinion after I tried to peel off the background distractions. My overall impression of the book was greatly impacted by the awful and off pace background music, so beware. The music is continuous, and doesn’t match the mood of the book or the voice of the narrator. The voice, tone and intonation of the narrator were all completely wrong, it was as if the narration was for a kids’ book. The voices were all wrong and almost screamed for all characters except for the main one. The whole experience is bad and does a great dis-service for the book. I recommend getting the version without music and, unless the narrator is changed, just read the book. You will surely like it a lot better.

Why Add Background Music?

Enjoyed the storytelling and the narrator did a good job... but the music in the background was distracting, sometimes annoying, and unnecessary.

HAAAAAATE the music playing in the background!!!

I am returning this book. Great story, but I just cannot handle the horrible music playing in the background of the entire story. Terribly distracting. Cannot enjoy the story.
