I couldn't stop listening

This was a wonderful, yet sad story. You feel like you're living this yourself. A good reminder of the effects of generational and inter racial prejudices

Boring and not fully developed

I wanted to love this story but I couldn't I love Celeste Ng. This story just isn't interesting and I never was fully invested in anyone.

Good listen when traveling

It held my interest while traveling in car. The narrator did a great job. A twist at the end was a surprise. I would recommend.

Amazing in every way.

Ng creates characters that you feel you truly know, hurt for, and understand. Couldn’t put it down!

depressing, but not tear jerker

if you want a book that will shock you and make you cry your eyes out, this isn't it. it was super sad and real, but not a shocking sob the full last chapter book

Not what I was expecting…

It could have been the narrator, but I found this story to be rather boring. I may try reading it again on my own. Found it hard to follow and pay attention.

A Slow Burn

As always, Celeste Ng draws you in with her heartfelt story telling. Great performance by Cassandra Campbell.

Amazing.

This book is truly amazing. It pulls on your heart strings and really makes you think. This book will definitely make you cry. If you want a book that makes you feel like you know the characters I really recommend this one. You get to know the characters and you get to know how they view life and how they view each situation.

Beautiful and thought -provoking

This story got to me. The author paints a detailed story of how we live, striving to be something beyond what our parents expect and often pushing our dreams (and personal challenges) onto our children. Loved this book - was hard to put down.

I enjoyed the story and the characters. Very well written, wonderful descriptions and details. I did not anticipate the ending!
