Acerca de esta escucha

The most widely recognized business executive of all time asks the tough questions that America's leaders must address:

  • What is each of us giving back to our country?
  • Do we truly love democracy?
  • Are we too fat and satisfied for our own good?
  • Why is America addicted to oil?
  • Do we really care about our children's futures?
  • Who will save the middle class?

Lee Iacocca believes that leaders are made in times of crisis: such as today. He has known more leaders than almost anybody else, including nine U.S. presidents, many heads of state, CEOs of the nation's top corporations, celebrities, and even a pope, and is uniquely suited to share his wisdom, knowledge, and wit about the leadership of America. Lee Iacocca does not mince words, and in Where Have All the Leaders Gone? he offers his no-nonsense, straight-up assessments of the American politicians most likely to run for president in 2008. He also shares his lessons learned, and issues a call to action to summon Americans back to their roots of hard work, common sense, integrity, generosity, and optimism.

Where have all the leaders gone? Lee Iacocca has the answer.

    Reseñas de la Crítica

"Iacocca rails against the lack of leadership in vital national concerns such as health care, open markets and energy policy....The book's strength lies in Iacocca's emotional honesty." (Publishers Weekly)
"Although Iacocca presents a brutal analysis of cronyism in Washington, D.C., the abysmal situation in Iraq, and failed policies at home, he is not a pessimist. With a reputation as a straight shooter, he hopes to inspire more young people to vote. This is a surprisingly outspoken take on the pressing need for real leadership in this country." (Booklist)

Always best when the author reads. True Lee Iacocca with some interesting new stories and his take on the current economy and administration. I don't agree, but his opinion is worth listening to.

    Enjoyable

Although i enjoyed the book and its many lessons , I could not wonder what ever happened to humility . I now understand that Lee created the mould for the superstar CEO , I am not sure this is a healthy thing in current economic environment .

Where has all the humility gone !

it was good in the beginning but then it got to political and it went bad. I enjoyed Lee but now I lost a lot of respect for him.

liked the first parts but then it got to political

I wish he would have gone more
Into detail of his leadership role at Chrysler, and less about our political
Problems. He mentions several times why he didn’t go into politics for a profession, but doesn’t go into how to fix it; just why he stayed out. I like that he admits his mistakes, and challenges everyone to “do better”

    Too political, but overall good

This is one of the best books I have listened to in years. It is a great eyeopener and wakeup call. It is one of those books which has a ton of facts, wisdom and common sense, which many of us have forgotten. I like the way Lee not only introduces the problems but also suggests possible solutions. A MUST LISTEN for the American People.

    An Excellent Wakeup Call!

Iacoca shares his triumphs as well as his failures, and the learning that came from each. He clearly intimates that each of us has it in us to be a leader - it's a choice. His political leanings are clearly evident, but there is a message in those opinions. First ask ourselves questions about how well we approve of the state of our country, and then accept the responsibility to pay attention, learn and vote accordingly. I'll listen to this again, and have already recommended it to others.

    Inspirational

An outstanding book by a true American who poses a question that many people in this country are asking today; Where have all our leaders gone ?

Now in his eighties, Lee gives his insights into what led us to this point in the evolution of our Republic. He also quips about past relationships and experiences with various world leaders he has known. He also tells the heartwarming story of his first wife's battle with Diabetes and her subsequent death.

He is truly a great American and this is one of the better books I have had the pleasure of experiencing.

if it was less political I would have enjoyed it more, but still makes some excellent points on leadership
