Resumen del Editor

In August 2003, virtually overnight, Jan Frazier experienced "a dramatic falling away of fear" - not just the immediate fear of her annual medical test but, as she learned as time went on, her fear of everything. She was "flooded with a causeless joy that has never left me." In this audiobook the commonplace belief that enlightenment is only for saints comes apart at the seams. Anyone can be enlightened, and all we need to do is ask. This rare and beautiful account puts Jan Frazier solidly in the tradition of enlightened teachers from J. Krishnamurti to Byron Katie. Guns and money aren't going to buy peace of mind. Giving up fear is.

Listening to the book is like hearing the most familiar melody of love, you never knew you needed to hear.

Absolutely profound. What a gift Jan is to an aching world. A world full of souls longing to find their way out of suffering. This book is like a sweet song being sung to the heart, beckoning you back home.

An Inspiring Story

A real life story of a person who went from Suffering to Realization. The author writes very well and is a good narrator for this work. She tells her story almost like from a diary. There are dates and times when she progresses and her perceptions at many different times on her journey. Thank you for this inspiring work!

Helpful Addition to my study of "awakening"

Would you consider the audio edition of When Fear Falls Away to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version, and at this time I'm not certain that I would need to.

Would you recommend When Fear Falls Away to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend this work for anyone that is studying awakening, transformation, consciousness, and spirituality, and requires continued reading material.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I liked the second half of the book a lot more than the first half. I enjoyed the references to excellent spiritual quotes by Tolle, Rumi , and others. I occasionally felt that the readers tone did not accurately reflect the depth of her experience.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. I had an extreme reaction to the author's deep understanding of "awakening" and her ability to describe many thoughts and feelings that I have experienced. I was repeatedly thankful that someone knew that all this stuff is going on! I felt great joy throughout many parts of the second half of this book! I was very moved when the author explained how her efforts to resist living in her inner world were exhausting.

Any additional comments?

I did not LOVE the first half of this book, because listening to the author's specific hardships about cancer made me uncomfortable, nevertheless, it is hard for me to say more objectively how others would feel about the first half of this book, that clearly fanned the flame of "my" dragon.

A delightful journey to where you already are

Jan gives us a glimpse into the intimacy of her own awakening with candor and eloquence. Her writing is soaked through with deep peace and freedom. She describes her awakening unapologetically, while giving hope to those of us still in between worlds. Thank you, Jan.

Great Content, Dull Performance

I truly loved this book and it taught me so much. I found Jan’s voice monotone and would have preferred a more lively delivery.

Very good book, poor narration

In my opinion, this is one of the best accounts of sudden spiritual awakening available today. It is sensitive, insightful and convincingly written (which comes as no surprise as the author teaches creative writing). However, being an excellent writer does not necessarily make one a good narrator, even of one's own work. Jan's performance comes across to me as flat, almost expressionless, and hurried. The short chapters are each a thought-provoking vignette of some facet of her life after awakening. One wants to reflect on them. But Jan plows on from one chapter to the next with no break at all--as if she just wants to get the job done. I ended up buying the book so that I could read at my own pace and reflect.
