Resumen del Editor

In What It Takes, Amy Henry, a formidable businesswoman and national star from The Apprentice, shares her experiences, skills, and in-your-face advice for moving up in today's workplace.

Throughout her impressive 10-year business career, mostly in male-dominated industries, Amy has learned how women can succeed by using the strategies men use every day, and by thinking of femininity as an asset, not a liability.

What It Takes is packed with real-life examples and practical advice and strategies, including:

  • Don't cry in the boardroom: manage your emotions
  • Yes, there is an Old Boys network: join it on your terms
  • Speak up: confidence isn't arrogance
  • Use charm: your personality is an asset
  • Brag: broadcast your accomplishments
  • Stop apologizing: men don't do it, you shouldn't either
  • Money: it's not what you need, it's what you're worth
  • Mixing business with pleasure: the right way and the wrong way

Hip, honest, and controversial, What It Takes is the ultimate guide to the reality of today's business world, and Amy Henry is the new model for today's young businesswomen.

    A lot of good advice

I had the pleasure of hearing Amy Henry Speak at a convention. Truthfully, it was what made me buy the book, otherwise I might never have picked it. I never watched the Apprentice, so I had never heard of her. As a business woman in a male dominated industry (plumbing), this book gave me a lot of great advice to use in my every day work life.

    sometimes you need reminding

Where does What It Takes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A great book to remind you of how it all works, I found myself talking out loud in agreement.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Amy does a great job of narrating this book, it is like talking to a girlfriend.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I particularly liked it when she talked about how women believe that if I just work hard and get great results someone will notice. Not true - the company will take your work happily and the men who ask and network will get the promotion. So true.

    Excellent

The best book I've ever read on women in business! Very enthusiastic realism and never boring. Very encouraging for employees as well as business owners. Our company plans to purchase several as gifts.
