When two cannibalistic, gravely wounded men stagger into the town of Gehenna, all hell breaks loose. Infamous outlaw Mad Dog McCall, stuck in the city jail, must fight for his life to escape. The lonely, intelligent, and snarky Karen must make horrific sacrifices to survive the night against the growing army of the dead.

Together they set upon a journey of biblical proportions, fighting against the living and the infected, hoping against hope to find a safe haven in the middle of Hell.

The Old West can't fathom the zombie hoard that is about to consume it.

Any additional comments?

There is nothing new in this trilogy. Zombies meet a bunch of Old West stereotypes in three short stories. Even though there is nothing new here, it is still a fun listen. Even though this trilogy doesn't provide a new take on the zombie folklore, this is still an entertaining listen. Listen to it for what it is and enjoy it.

Nothing new..still fun!

This book was a really fun listen. It has the same feeling as a Deadlands RPG session.
the narrator was good and has excellent pacing, I did not have to speed him up at all to enjoy it.
The story itself was a Western Horror that gave a string impression of the characters trying to escape perdition, but told well enough I enjoyed it the whole time.

Mad Dog McCall didn’t feel like shooting a deputy today, so he quietly surrendered and made his bed in the sheriff’s cell. Meanwhile, the saloon girl Karen watched two men attack and begin eating a female town resident. Shooting the attackers did no good, they kept advancing. Several men were bitten while subduing the attackers. How were these two still alive? One had an ax in his chest, the other had been shot three times, both had broken arrows and a tomahawk in their backs, and they smelled like old roadkill. The men who had been bitten, including the deputy, began turning into the undead. The first volume continues as McCall and any lucky survivors attempt to make their way out of town. #2 Tartarus. McCall and Karen escaped Gehenna on a passing train. The passengers oh so kindly helped one of the infected onto the train as well. The madness will start over again. Included in the passengers are bank robbers Evans and Jones. Out of ammunition, McCall tried to remove the infected but was subdued. They must stay separated from the infected. Evans and Jones must be dealt with. Were they heading in the right direction away from the infected, or deeper in? What was waiting for them at Tartarus? #3 Sheol. McCall remained behind to give Karen and the comatose boy a chance to escape the hoard on horseback. A long, grueling walk carrying the boy ensued after the horse gave out, leaving Karen to collapse in an exhausted sleep. She awoke in a Sheol jail cell. Of all people, Evans stood in the door. Meanwhile, miraculously, McCall escaped from the infected and was making his way on foot to Sheol. The infected were on a direct line to Sheol as well. I like the story, it is pretty good, not terribly exciting or action-packed. It is a bit unique given the western setting. The characters were developed as much as necessary and likable, even McCall who was not the bad man he professed to be. A fun read and an easy recommendation.
